Any suggestions for a good family-friently restaurant in the Marble Falls or Buchanan Lake area? We use to like the Catfish Barge, but it closed down.

Recommend the BlueBonnet Cafe for breakfast type food and the River City Grill for dinner.

(both in Marble Falls)

If you want to drive to Llano, Llaneaux's is good.

Is the River City Grill fairly casual? Or is it a little nicer? We ate at Dock's Seafood and Steaks last year, and it was ok.

We use to eat at the Catfish Barge every year when we went to Buchanan, but it closed down. So you can see the level of sophistication we're used to!

This isn't a family style suggestion, but Cafe 909 in Marble Falls is a truly superb restaurant. Dale Rice (Austin American Statesman) lists it as one of Austin's 10 best restaurants.

My wife and I are partial to Jammin' House (Jamaican/Caribbean) in Marble Falls. They are located right behind The Church of Christ in a home or b&b that was converted to a restaurant.

The River City Grill is casual.

The Bluebonnet Cafe is a very good recommendation for any meal, but especially for breakfast or lunch, IMHO.

Lots of locals and visitors eat here and at peak times it's crowded, but with a fast moving line.

The pies are special.

The fairly new Cafe 909 provides a quiet, relaxed, gourmet dining experience; it's expensive and relatively small.

I've only eaten there once, but it was good.

Only open for dinner and I suspect reservations are a must.

Patton's on Main is a more reasonable, nice place for dinner.

This is where I'll often take guests when I'm paying for the food and drinks.

Eat while listening to live music on the small patio or inside where it's cooler and quieter.

Russo's has a great, long distance view of Lake Marble Falls and is especially nice in the evening.

Consider eating on the deck at sunset.

There's a Chili's right on the lake and also a decent Chinese buffet on Highway 1431 that has many American selections too.

I've lived in Marble Falls since 1972.

Everything here is casual unless you want to dress up.

And if you do wear a coat and tie, you might still be sitting next to folks in T-shirts, shorts or blue jeans.

The least casual places are Cafe 909 and Russo's.

They don't offer a special menu for kids.

And I'm sure they would prefer that diners wear at least a collared shirt and long pants.

They try for more atmosphere and are the most expensive places in town.

Ken's Catfish is small and closes after lunch, but it has the best catfish in town.

When did the Catfish Barge shut down?

FRED, what is now at the place Marty McFly's used to be?

I don't know that anything is where Marty McFly's used to be.

Many are the gigs I played and many are the beers I drank there.

There are several bars with live music in downtown Marble Falls now.

You can actually walk from one to another for a big night out on the town.

And I don't know when the Catfish Barge closed or even that it had.

I believe, it had the benefit of being grandfathered for years at that location and I always heard that the LCRA would not transfer or renew their permit to be floating on Inks Lake, if the restaurant ever changed hands.

When the new Highway 29 bridge opened further away, their drive by dining traffic may have gone down.

I don't drive by either of those places regularly, so I know no more.

Yes,it is the Farmhouse in Granite Shoals. Right there on 1431. I grew up in Kingsland and almost every time I go back there, we eat at the Farmhouse. We used to eat at the Catfish Barge a lot too. I did not know it closed down.
