The River City Grill is casual.
http://www.rivercitygrilletx.com/The Bluebonnet Cafe is a very good recommendation for any meal, but especially for breakfast or lunch, IMHO.
Lots of locals and visitors eat here and at peak times it's crowded, but with a fast moving line.
The pies are special.
http://www.touringtexas.com/blubonet.htmThe fairly new Cafe 909 provides a quiet, relaxed, gourmet dining experience; it's expensive and relatively small.
I've only eaten there once, but it was good.
Only open for dinner and I suspect reservations are a must.
http://www.austin360.com/restaurants/restaurants/63461/DetailedList.jspd?activity=63461Patton's on Main is a more reasonable, nice place for dinner.
This is where I'll often take guests when I'm paying for the food and drinks.
Eat while listening to live music on the small patio or inside where it's cooler and quieter.
http://www.pattonsonmain.com/Russo's has a great, long distance view of Lake Marble Falls and is especially nice in the evening.
Consider eating on the deck at sunset.
http://www.texitally.com/location.html There's a Chili's right on the lake and also a decent Chinese buffet on Highway 1431 that has many American selections too.

Everything here is casual unless you want to dress up.
And if you do wear a coat and tie, you might still be sitting next to folks in T-shirts, shorts or blue jeans.
The least casual places are Cafe 909 and Russo's.
They don't offer a special menu for kids.
And I'm sure they would prefer that diners wear at least a collared shirt and long pants.
They try for more atmosphere and are the most expensive places in town.
Ken's Catfish is small and closes after lunch, but it has the best catfish in town.

Gig 'em, FAST FRED '65.
Before the world wide web, village idiots usually stayed in their own village.
