My ex-wife and kids are moving to Round Rock. I am moving as well to be near my kids. Where would be a good place for a middle-aged single guy to live? (I work remotely so that's not an issue)

Agreed with domain. My family and I live in Pflugerville, and spend a lot of time in the domain/arboretum area. We actually still belong to and regularly attend mass in the Parrish in which the domain resides.

If you don't mind taking tollways to pick-up/visit with your kids in RR, it's a very short drive, and really anywhere in the greater Austin area north of hwy 71 would be within a 15-20 minute drive outside of rush hours
