I received a link to email the city council and mayor and tell them to support the police contract. Figured the Austin Ag crowd would be interested in it.

Don't know if you all saw but at the work session on Tuesday, the number of speakers in favor of the contract outnumbered the anti-police crowd by almost 10-1.

The pro-public safety movement finally has a chance of winning as long as people keep making their voice heard.

Take 2 minutes to add your name and click one button to email all council members. If you live and/or work in or immediately around Austin, have family there, own a business there, whatever...you should fill this out.

What a joke. F APD. Lazy pieces of S. Better use for this money would be paying higher wages so we can actually get a working 911 system in town (not like APD would show, but at least you could get in touch with the fire department or emergency services).

This is an insane take, but that's fine - everyone gets their opinion.

Every organization will have lazy employees, but all the cops I talk to (and it's a good number) are hard working and want that department to succeed.

Also the city's recent budget already included pay raises for civilian employees - like the dispatch that you're talking about. That is definitely a focus as well.

I don't think it's lazy employees….its a defunded department. I was hit by a drunk driver in Austin and he fled the scene on foot and Austin Fire or Police did not show up since there weren't any serious injuries. It's a sad state the public service is in. Cedar Park fire came to the scene…pretty unbelievable.
