Family is safe but that was rowdy as hell
Sitting at the airport waiting on a flight to new orleans. That same storm is just about to get here, but it looks like the hail has quieted down in it. But the lightning has everything shut down on the ramp, so who knows when we will get out of here.

I was expecting rain but not this. I was out planting and my phone starts blowing up and folks started sending pics.
The hail map meteos are calling it a "billion dollar storm". It looks like it slammed some of the densest areas.
Prepare for the parade of roofers rolling down the street, some of whom became roofers this evening.
If anyone had anything bigger hail than in those pics, and even if you didn't, take a peak in your attic tomorrow during daylight and look for daylight. Roof damage is a given, you're looking for holes. More rain in the forecast.

My car was at a dealership tonight waiting to be serviced off 35. I'm not looking forward to that call in the morning.

Make your claims now. Immediately. Do not wait until next week. Do not wait until "things die down". Do not wait for some roofer to look at it first. Storms of this magnitude typically skip the first step that I recommend which is "let your roofer look at it first". That's normally a good idea but if you have dented cars and busted windows, that simply isn't necessary.
There is plenty of time, after you make your claim, to research roofers and select one. The ones that don't have business cards with 512 area codes should be vetted for local offices and references.
Class IV impact resistant shingles will no doubt be on everyone's mind. Be aware that they are currently in limited supply. My San Antonio and Austin roof materials have been delivered from my Katy supplier for this reason. Be prepared for possible delays on those as things filter through the repair process.

Jason you're not wrong about current supply of Class IV rated shingles. This storm will only make that worse. I work on the supplier side for roofing materials in both Houston and now Austin for 7+ years.
If anyone is needing some roofer referrals in the area let me know. I personally work with over 100 roofing contractors and know the good ones, bad ones, and out of towners.
Definitely hate to see this damage to a lot of your homes and cars. Good chance a lot of you have a roof that was just replaced within the past 2 years.

Man, everyone just replace their roofing/shingles this summer on my street.

I've replaced my roof twice in 3 years. I think this time just cars and some landscaping. I got lucky….I think.

Good idea - Instead of waiting until tomorrow to call my insurance company like everyone else will do, I just filed an online claim. They will contact me in the next 2 days.
Jason with Infinity Roofing is a good dude. His team replaced my roof after the hail storm in 2021, and I wouldn't hesitate to call him again. Sounds like the IH 35 corridor is where it was worst, because on the east side of Round Rock, Redbud and Gattis, we only had a few pea sized stones.

4-5 good ones on the hood but sunroof survived.
If that was aimed at my post he is an Aggie and uses class IV shingles….

Round Rock Hyundai and Honda got hit hard. On the news it looked like a gang went through the lot with baseball bats.

Holy crap
Yeah. Our house was oriented in a way that minimized window damage. Houses with the windows face towards the hail, got rocked as far as busted windows are concerned
