Lost my wallet with all my IDs in there. what sucks is I can't ask for a replacement online because I do not know my DD number, so I have to go in person, and the next available appointment is in October 11. Anyone knows if there is any other way to just get that one number somehow, or if same day appointments are possible? I don't mind being there at 5 AM I just want to know if that is possible

Ask your employer. I've had to submit pictures of my ID for all new employment paperwork. Same for doctors offices, etc. If they have a scan of it, you should be able to get DL off of it. Maybe check your phone for previous pics that were sent in.

I have taken picture and keep on my phone of both mine and my wife's DLs. I also keep my old cards.

They usually take some walk ins. The advice I was given: get there early, bring a lawn chair, don't go on a Monday.

Blanco or lockhart tx no problem in the past. Went to San Marcos this month but it was a 1 month wait for an appt.

For my I-9 verification I gave them my passcard, so they don't have any DL on file :/

Lesson learned. I have a pic of my DL expired 2020, so the DD number is different.

they open up appointments at like 6 or 7am every day so if you get in the habit of checking early each day you'll find one.

Spent some time doing this since my son needed to take his drivers test and get his license. Ultimately found one available in a week or so in Halletsville, as opposed to the 8-12 week Austin timeframe. You'll have to go search in the small towns for appointments sooner

look at offices outside of austin of the metro area. i was able to get next day in temple earlier this year.

I was in the Bastrop office in March getting the address changed on my DL and they were taking walk-ins as time allowed. You might have to wait a bit, but they will fit you in.

Live in Buda. Roommate and then me did our renewals in Gonzales. Roommate did his as a next day appointment. I made mine almost a month in advance (just because I already took my birthday off), mainly because all of Austin area was 6+week wait.

Make sure you have a birth certificate, something like a W2 or ssn card. Possibly have a copy of current car registration.

the mega center in pflugerville was good for me

Got lucky an and appointment for next thursday opened up so I grabbed it. Been checking every day for the appointment drops so went from late October to late September to just next week.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is canceling all driver license appointments for Wednesday, Sept. 6 due to an ongoing outage of the driver's license system.
DPS said Wednesday all appointments will be canceled after previously only canceling appointments in the morning.
The outage is impacting all driver license services including renewing or replacing a driver license or identification card, obtaining a driver record and verifying eligibility.

Aggie friend posted on FB her 15 year old had his cancelled. Made another and it got cancelled. You know for a first license that has to eat him up. Is olds can just drive and show papers but not a first timer

I think I was just in panic mode first 3 days cause I thought I would get pulled over easily, but reality is in like 9 years of driving i've only been pulled over like 2 times lol, I'll just continue driving like normal. My sentri card arrived quick so I'll just use that for flights to not have to carry the passport book anymore.

I can't remember the last time I was pulled over. Maybe 10 years? I really don't know.

They've been shut down all week due to a SW upgrade gone bad. Looks they plan start working 7-7 next week and at least two Saturdays from 8-2 to try to catch up. Of course all of that is dependent on the system getting re-booted.

PSA-> licenses are now renewed for eight years. If you have two years or less left on your license, you can renew get up to ten years between renewals.

My girlfriend's was cancelled today. She just went in at 11 anyway when they said the systems were up and it was empty and they helped her. She actually has to have one follow up thing done and they scheduled her for Tuesday, even though the appointment site said nothing was available until Feb.

Was able to book one slot for today at 4:30 pm in Pflugerville. Checked the site at around 7:40 am. Was very slow but it went through.
