There is a 44 page long breakfast taco thread on the San Antonio board which spurred me to create this post.

I'm from SA originally and like to talk smack about Austin's tacos to annoy my Austinite friends but am always looking for good recs.

Post 'em if you got 'em.

I live on the east side side and typically rotate between:

Granny's for breakfast tacos. (Great migas)

https://instagr.am/p/CfDMU1ut48i

Taqueria Los Regios for lunch.

https://instagr.am/p/CtmIKGvML36

Cuantos is great for lunch too although they've really blown up from being on Netlfix and what not.

I'm not a fan of Taco Deli as a whole but the potatoes they put in their breakfast tacos are weird and awesome

Vera Cruz is fantastic. Also… One Taco is underrated imo. Not much out here in the burbs that I've found.

Taco More. Bring a gun to either of the Austin locations; the Round Rock location is fine.

Don't sensationalize stereotypes. A gun isn't needed at either Austin spot. I live about a mile from the Rundberg location and my 8 year old son rides his bike around the neighborhood without issue. My wife jogs around the neighborhood without issue. There are some lower economic apartment complexes and even a few government housing locations, but the people around my house are far nicer than those in my parents Georgetown neighborhood.

And Taco More is great but the Rundberg location can get warm when it is sunny and hot outside.

Another spot that I like but haven't been to in ages as I'm not in South Austin as much as I used to be:

Sabor Tapatio

https://instagr.am/p/ClkhNIbN_fJ

Rosita's Al Pastor is another solid spot on Riverside. It is quite popular and gets crowded.

I heard the 183/Burnet location is no longer there. We went to the food truck location on the east side Sunday. Took awhile, like 35 minutes to get a couple of tacos.

Actually had the downtown location last night while at the girlfriend's place. They have a convenient little pick up window on the side of the building. The barbacoa was solid even if they put radishes on it...

In no particular order:

Veracruz
Suerte
Paprika ATX

While it was open, Dai Due Taqueria in the Fareground had the best breakfast tacos in the city (IMO).

You are correct, that spot got bought out and has been/is being leveled to build…something.

But they're my fave, also recently opened a brick and mortar in Mueller that I need to check out.

they moved to Kyle right? I've heard about how great Valentina's is for years but have never made the trip. I hear you usually have to wait at least an hour as well, is that true?

They still have their Manchaca location. I personally have never waited that long, though I only go usually on Wednesdays or Thursdays purposely to avoid long waits.

Nope. The owner lives in Buda and the City helped him finance the BBQ hall. His pits are in 2 large abandoned silos. Pretty cool. He said he tried to stay in Austin but the City didnt want to help him. Glad he came. A lot of Local Austin businesses habe moved to Buda, Kyle, Cedar Park etc for the incentives.

The flea marktet on N Lamar across from Chuys has a taco truck with al pastor on a spit and those tacos are really good. Also on Sundays there is a red taco truck on Kramer Ln in the small corner store that sells tacos de chivo and are also good.

Dude there is a flea market on Montopolis on the weekends that has the best carnitas taco truck in Austin. It's crazy, they don't even have an online presence so none of the hipster/influencers have discovered them yet.

Should be right across from this: https://goo.gl/maps/AgeRfYWdMD4AYiZz5
