We are in the Four Points area and having a difficult time with homeowners insurance due to the wildfire risk. Had Nationwide and they declined to renew this year. Picked up Travelers last month and they are dropping also due to wildfire risk. I have an independent insurance agent that our family has used since the mid 90's but they are not out of Austin.

Any tips, tricks or advice or recommendations for companies that will insure in the area?

Have you tried calling Liere Insurance? They are based out of College Station and I've been with them for over 10 years. Let them know I sent you!

Liere is good. But thinking an insurance guy needs to be local is not a valid reason. If he is in state he can do the job.

Spider, I own an Independent Agency here in Austin. I would be worried that if other Independents tried and couldn't find you anything I might not be able to either but would be more than happy to give it a shot. Email me and I can let you know what i need to quote it.
