I honestly don't care, but find council response laughable since they lead austin into these messes with their overly protective tree rules.

He's been a lame duck since he got here. Minneapolis was a hot mess while he was there and our council completely ignored it during the interviewing process for the sake of hiring someone that made us falsely look progressive. If anyone tells you that he's been good for this city, just ask them to name one thing that's better here since he was hired 5 years ago.

My worry is we fire him and then go hire someone even worse. While I'm a fan of Watson, I don't have a lot of faith in our council making a solid hire.

You could say that about almost all of our city council reps and mayor too, right?

If what I hear is right, the City was behind by as much as 4 years on tree trimming.
Possibly the city taking $118million every year from Austin Energy might have something to do with that, or maybe they are just slow. BTW, don't even dream that there will be an audit to discover where that money went.

Right! And council scaled back the scope of the audit because they do not want citizens to see how much money AE contributes to the budget and how much lower energy rates could be. Austin Council plays the citizens of Austin like a violin.

AE is leveraged as another way to tax citizens (you don't get the tax shield) so that we can pay for pet projects like buying hotels for the homeless. How is that bio-power plant working... how much have we lost running it?

It amazes me we live in a city where you are not guaranteed running water, or water where you don't have to boil it, basic electricity, or not getting attacked by a crazy downtown.

They bought out the bioPlant contract for $450-$500million.

I read an article that says Cronk to receive $463,000 in severance. Most jobs receive what, 3-6-month severance? That amount seems more like multiple years of severance.

I assume you meant 3-6 months severance?

Yes, I'll edit. Typo.

May have been ineffective but used as the fall guy by other city policy makers for their inept use of funds that should have been used for mitigation for storm effects instead of being diverted to feel good vote buying projects.

If the dude sucked, he sucked, fine.

I just wish the council had some skin in the game. No issues paying out a $473,000 severance or setting up his structure that way from the beginning...bc you know, not like it comes all out for their salary or bank account. No, it's the $ spread across all of the people who live here.z
