Can someone recommend a tapas (small plate) type restaurant for a nice experience/food evening?

I see swifts attic but is there something else out there?

Isn't Barlata on South Lamar a tapas place? It's only a mile or so south of downtown.

If you can get into Red Ash, do it. You will not be disappointed. Also Hestia. Small plates, chef's menu. Very expensive and very good. Comedor also has small plates, Mexican theme.

Just an FYI: there's a big difference between having Red Ash on your list and having Red Ash reservations in your pocket. That's usually 4-5 weeks out for a table. Put your name in now and cancel later if necessary.

You should definitely give it a shot if you come back another time. You can smell it all the way from across the street - it's one of the best parts of my walk home. Still plenty of good options though. You'd do just fine at Comedor.

Comedor is great. We typically go with group of 4 and basically order the whole menu... Sharing plates. Drinks are great. Food is great.

Very different than a red ash experience. With what you are looking for, should be great option.

Just saw you wanted walkable. Aba is awesome if you don't mind taking a short Uber trip.

ATX Cocina is good and is walkable from the JW. If you plan on being out late I would carry.

Have not dined at Hestia. It shares the entrance with Kali. That lobby smells good. Hestia cooks over real wood fire like Red Ash and La Piscina.

Red Ash is great for steaks.

La Piscina is great for fajitas.

Kalimotxo is great for tapas (appetizers).

All 3 work for pre-concert pit stops.

Zanzibar is a great drink spot and the food is fine. Comedor is not the same since Gabe left, still a great spot though
