Anyone have a good rec for a local sleep doctor? Haven't been able to sleep since before we had our kids who are now 4 and 2. Guess I got bad habits with all the distractions of a baby monitor and crying that I just can't shake.

Definitely take your sleep hygiene seriously, you are half the person without sleep

No alcohol, food, caffeine, exercise, or nicotine within 2 hours of bed (thc may help)
Make your room cool, dark and quiet
No visible clocks
TV off
Drink water! But not within an hour of bed
Have a night time routine (brush teeth, light yog, meditation/prayer, read/tv)

Do that first before the drugs, the drugs are hard as hell to come off.

I feel for you if you need a CPAP

Thanks everyone. I've definitely tried some things to try and fix this before I went the medicine route. Cell phone usage being the major one and also adding daily exercise and quiet time before bed. Really think my main issue is stress and not being able to shut my mind off.

I have the same issue my cure was guided sleep meditations and a manta eye mask (I freaking love that thing)


Not trying to minimize your situation at all I have just seen several suffer on the ambien

I say this with zero known scientific backing but showering before sleep always makes me sleep better. It feels like the hot water shuts my skin down.

I also sleep better when I make my bed every day and also reduce the tight fabric in my bottom half

I always read some fiction for about 20 mins before sleep. It helps me forget what all is going on in my real life, and enjoy the story. I have been doing this since I was about 8yo, though, so I know it works in my case. Maybe it is the habit for me.
