My wife and I will be in town this weekend for a little getaway, and I would like to take her to a delicious restaurant in downtown. Ideas for places with great food that would compare to Christophers or The Republic here in College Station? Thanks!

Not sure what Christopher's or Republic specialize in but:
Red Ash - Italian
Fixe - high end comfort
Clay Pit - Indian
Trulucks - seafood
If you don't limit yourself to downtown the options are much better

Unfortunately, looks like Mongers didn't make it. Drove by yesterday and it looked empty.

Mongers moved to the old Vino Vino location on Guadalupe.

Went to Comedor last night based on this thread. It was good! Definitely up there with some of our best dining experiences and atmosphere. Food was maybe 4.4/5.
We went "early" at 630. By 730 that place was packed to 75% capacity for sure. The halibut was awesome with the coconut added to the vera cruz base. The pork belly could have used more flavor. Having just cooked 2 pork butts a couple of weeks ago, I quickly learned that you really can't over season it, and the habanero sauce they give you is diluted in heat to the point of a tomato sauce.
The waitress asked us if we wanted dried crickets on our tostada, so we said, sure, why not...what the hell! I asked her later how much people say yes when she asks them, and she said very very few.
