My gf fractured her hand over the weekend. The urgent care recommended a place that has a lot of complaints online. Plus, my gf said the doctor was pretty detached during her visit. Anyone have any recs for an orthopedist specializing in hand fractures or breaks?

Dr. Stephen Henry did my hand surgery 9 years ago. Everyone in the office was very professional.

Might try https://austinsportsmed.com/ if you can't get in to see Dr. Henry. My wife went for a foot injury, but the Dr. and staff were both great.

Gregg Vagner, now with ARC is who I'd send family to (I actually have done that previously) and who I would see myself.
An ortho guy I used to work with, who I still hunt with, refers his hand patients to Gregg as well.

Texas Orthopedics is who we have used for when I fractured my hand and my daughter fractured her ankle. They have specialists for everything.

IMO, Austin Sports Medicine has the best group of orthopedic guys in Austin. Several of them have been doctors for professional and college teams. Their hand guy is Dr. Gilman. Everyone there is very, very good, and they take their time with patients. Me, my wife and son have all gone there multiple times.

Got her second opinion this morning at ASM - much better experience. Doctor actually recommended not having surgery, and re-evaluating soon. Thanks for the recommendations everyone!

Who was the original dr? I burned my hand pretty good this past week and my primary care recommended going to a specialist. The dr recommended has mixed reviews online that I can find. Curious if it is the same dr.
