So where's a good place in Austin to try some good wine that's not expensive, enjoy some live music, etc.? We're in town for a wedding and need someplace to go Friday night.

And maybe some wineries to see on Saturday afternoon.

Vino Vino on Guadalupe is a nice little bar/restaurant with a lot of wines but no music. If you're around for Sunday morning, Juliet has a live jazz brunch.

Oh, and the obligatory, who gets married during football season?

Head to Driftwood and grab lunch at the Duchman winery/whatever the Italian restaurant is out there. I've always heard good things but have not eaten at it. Wines were decent. You can also hit Deep Eddy on your way back if you really want to preparty.

Yeah, I know. I had the same question. It's an away game. That's all I got.

Also, my wife points out that the venue's availability has something to do with it.

Trattoria Lisina has great Italian food. Driftwood Winery and Vista Brewing are both great for drinks. Driftwood Winery is supposed to have some food now as well.

Not sure if they have live music, though.

We ended up going to a place called June's All Day. It was a fun place with good food and great wine. It was a bit loud to carry on conversation, but I would still recommend it.
