I have posted this in the "Job Network" forum but also wanted to drop this here on the Austin page as well:

I'm now almost two months since being laid off at my last job, and trying to maintain a positive attitude, but looking for any kind of help in finding a new role.

I got back to Austin a little over a year ago (worked in Louisiana for 3 years) but I'm from the area and need to be here for family purposes. My most recent experience was being a Project Manager for a contract manufacturer here in Austin. I was primarily managing projects that serviced the semiconductor industry, as well as food/beverage and some oil/gas type projects. I was promoted from Account Manager to this position. Unfortunately, the company had some major setbacks with their biggest account and was going through a rough period and had to begin doing rounds of layoffs. After my biggest projects were completed, I was let go.

My experience has primarily been with a manufacturing type companies. At all the places I have been, I have worked cross-functionally (engineering, production, sales, logistics, supply chain) and have always been customer facing as well as developing relationships with vendors. My degree was in Industrial Distribution and my background has been Project Management, Sales/Account Management, and Supply Chain.

I'm in search of a company that puts a strong emphasis on growth and stability, as well as doing things the right way. I greatly appreciate any help during this time. The Aggie Network has always been a great help.

Please send me a message or respond on this thread if you know of anybody looking to hire good people.

Thank you!

Dont know anything specifically, but I would start with the big guys that build stuff: AMD, ARM, NXP, Dell, Apple, IBM, Samsung, Applied Materials, National Instruments, Oracle, Cirrus Logic, Cypress Semi, Amazon. Non-tech: Yeti, Kendra Scott, BAE, CFAN, Wayne, Flex

Also, the Army just opened a new office here for Tech, they are probably hiring.

3M is looking for a Sourcing Category Specialist not sure if that is something you might be interested in.

Good luck, hang in there you will find something. But I understand it is a frustrating process, don't panic.

Applied is on a hiring freeze.

Look at UCT and Sanmina as well but might be in the same boat. Semi is softening quite a bit right now. Hoping it picks back up by Feb timeframe, but you may run into hiring freezes until then in this industry.

Applied pulling back quite a bit was the reason my previous company was in such a bad situation. Along with some poor planning.

Thank you all for the suggestions.

I met with Sanmina today in CA. They mentioned wanting to expand their Austin location. Jabil is another one to look at in the same industry.

I'm with Applied (Finance dept) and things have softened dramatically. That said if there's one thing we're NOT good at its predicting the next upswing so keep an eye on the CMs in town as AMAT will likely misread the market and have our CMs scrambling to hire in the next 6 months. Doesn't help you right now though...
