Bon Homie. Heading there in about 30.

It's not the sexiest option, but Eastside Cafe is always solid.

Not to derail the thread but what are some good places to eat within walking distance of Frank Erwin?

Scholz Garten isn't the best food but it's close and a cool historic place.

Ranch 616. Do it.

Fogo De Chao is pretty good, but it is fairly expensive (50.95 per person I believe) however the food is excellent and all you can eat fillet mignon and brandy marinated chicken is nice.

Another vote here for Red Ash and Salty Sow.

And if the weather happens to be good for patio seating, I like Contigo.

I hear Ruth Chris's Steak House is good!

East Side Pies is about a 1 mi walk, but if you are going 1mi, then there are a ton of places around Congress as well.

Went to WuChow last night...I think my 3rd visit there.

I had an epiphany. If you put Sichuan River or even PF Changs on the plates in the same setting and didn't say a word...I might be hard pressed to tell the different in the garlic green beans or whatever beef dish. Chinese food places, for the most part, are thought of as being middle to low end...to go boxes, paper/plastic table cloths, basic interiors, etc.

WuChow is delicious, but I think Chinese food in general is delicious. They just did a hell of a job creating the atmosphere and higher end vibe to justify spending $30-50/pp.

Menu may change some, but you can't really go wrong. Mac and Cheese is great. Brussels are great. They have a great burger. I would recommend getting several things and sharing.

They also have a great Moscow Mule called a "Melvin Mule" (the owner is from Melvin, TX).

I've always found the wait staff to be very personable and knowledgeable...

Get a reservation if you can. If you have to wait, they have a small mercantile store attached that you can browse, or you can hang out with a drink on the back lawn/gravel area if the weather is nice.

went to Eberly's last week. the 20 year old Pappy was on point. i've heard the food is hit or miss. everything we had was fantastic.

even if you don't want to eat there, the bar is a great spot.

Go to Jeffrey's. It is expensive but is worth every penny. Best steak I have had in central Texas.

And Frank Erwin doesn't have a lot in immediate walking distance.
