Where are some of your favorite snow cone stands? I'm rather partial to Sno-Beach (either at 34th and Guadalupe or on Barton Springs), but I'd love to find some options further north. Any suggestions?

Sweet Caroline's, "new orleans" style, whatever that means. And owned by an Ag. Had them on Sunday on Barton Springs. I think there are 3 Austin locations, one on steck and mesa (north)

Airport and 51st. Casey's is the name I think. But sno beach is the best.

Sno Beach is my go to place, but a lot of people love Casey's. Like Sweet Caroline's, Casey's is "New Orleans Style." What's the difference between that and what they have at Sno Beach?

New Orleans Style just means that the ice is the finely shaved kind instead of kinda chunky.

There's a snocone place on Mays Street near downtown in Round Rock.

There is also a Sweet Caroline's on Anderson Mill/183, on the North West side of that intersection. Pretty good stuff imo.

The stand on South Lamar across from the Corner Bar has three very pretty chicks working this joint.

I call it the Pretty Girl Shaved stand.

Casey's is the best.

One not mentioned that is in Pflugerville is Frost Bites Cafe http://frostbitescafe.com/

I'm still waiting for the one at the Texaco station on Balcones near 2222 to open. It's the closest to us and my kids are going crazy. Did they close permanently?

Root, there's a snow cone stand at the Exxon on balcones across the street from Randall's that's open. Don't know if it's the same one you're talking about, but it's about a block from 2222.

Last weekend we visited Sweet Caroline's. The girls there were very friendly and accommodating. I wish they'd had some more flavors to choose from, but they make a good snow cone.

I took my son to Casey's today. It was superb and worth the wait in line.

Kauai's in Round Rock is stingy with their syrup.

I plan to make the rounds to a couple of other places mentioned on this thread.

Sno Beach has always been a favorite of mine. Parents live pretty close to the Sweet Caroline's on Anderson Mill and 183 and I went there last time I was visiting. Really good as well.

We went to the new Sweet Caroline's trailer yesterday about a block away from Sno Beach on Barton Springs.

It was nice because there wasn't any line, whereas we would have waited probably 20 minutes in line at Sno Beach.

My GF is from New Orleans, and was disappointed that they dont have a true condensed milk topping...just a cream topping that has a little bit of condensed milk in it. She said that in addition to the style of ice, "New Orleans Style" should offer condensed milk. Everything was good about it though, except the guy giving out the finished snow cones tried to argue with her about it. Casey's has condensed milk, which is a better taste than the cream that Sweet Caroline's offers.

Another couple behind us in line was asking the other guy working there how they differed from Sno Beach, and he didn't really know what to tell them.

Not a huge deal, as you dont go to snow-cone stands for their service.

I ordered the Sweet Caroline and thought it was good.

Went to Sweet Carolines. It was OK compared to GBJB's.

GBJB is way better IMHO

Does anyone know if there are any stands in the Arboretum area? Sometimes I just don't want to drive up to Anderson Mill.

AggieDem, this was the one I was referring to, and it has a sign that says 'closed for season'. So, my guess is that they are closed for good.
