How long do you want to ignore this user?
I'm thinking about laying some Amerishade in my front yard. Two questions: 1) What is the best time of year to lay sod? I assume late winter/early spring, but I really have no idea and 2) anyone know of a good place near Austin I can get a pallet of the good stuff?

Actually, any suggestions on a better grass for the yard would be appreciated. We have St. Augustine in the back yard, so I figured I'd go with that in the front for the sake of continuity.

1. Now is a good time to lay sod.
2. The only place you can get Amerishade is from King Ranch Turfgrass. (Previously Turfgrass America, before that AAA Grass). They have locations on 71/290/Ben White near Oak Hill & off McNeil near 183.

You might consider Floratam as a St Augustine variety...Jerry Parsons, the Super Horticulturist in SA, really recommends it down this way http://www.plantanswers.com/grass.htm
