What are some good Mexican restaurants in Georgetown for a rehearsal dinner of roughly 50 people?

in Georgetown there are not any "good" Mexican food places...and slap anyone who tells you Dos Salsas.

take 29 out to Liberty Hill and try Margaritas. They can definitely accomadate a larger group. Great food, really nice people.

La Margarita in Round Rock (just south of 3406 on west side I-35 access road) is probably a better bet than anything in Georgepatch. Is food quality an issue, or will tequila be used to mask any imperfections?

La Margarita is ehhh...

there is another good place in RR. I will pay attention to the name on the way home.

I would never recommend La Margarita to anyone. Especially a big group of people that you may want to be friends with later on. We prefer Antonio's TexMex on I35/45.

Agreed. I was thinking La Margerita....but maybe not so much now. Thanks for all the help.

Casa Garcia is the other one in RR that I was thinking about

Dos Salsas is as good as any of those. Not any good for a party of your size though.

I'm sorry but Casa Garcias reeks. It was much better when it was Castaways.

I would recommend El Matador in downtown, but they recently failed a health inspection (in Williamson County of all places!), but did pass on reinspection.

I'll throw in another vote for Mesa Rosa just north of 3406 on the west side of the interstate.

JR

I think you and I just have vastly different tastes.

and Mesa Rosa is no good...the one at 3406 is much worse than the one on 620

I haven't tried the Mesa Rosa on I-35 but if it's worse than the one on 620, that's sad.

It would be nice the Matt's El Rancho folks would open one in RR or Gtn.

yes it would

I had no idea when I moved here from Bryan that the Mexican food choices would suck so much.

BBQ choices suck in Gtown too

mesa rosa is terrible.
chuy's is overrated, but the jalapeno ranch is pretty damn good.
i like la margarita but i can see why some here don't. it would probably seat the 50 ppl tho.
casa garcias is ok, but overpriced for what you get.
garcias (not casa garcias) in downtown RR is pretty good, but is a small house and wouldn't seat 50.

this wasn't very helpful.

I judge a Mexican restaurant by its salsa and cheese enchiladas. Those are two things you shouldn't be able to screw up. Dos Salsas failed miserably on the salsa part and was so-so on the enchildas.

You are all ignorant, Dos Salsas is great!

El Charito and El Patron are the two best mexican food places in G'Town. Neither one would be really good for a large party though.

I'm not a big Dos Salsas fan either.

I bet you think that Casa Ole is gourmet too.

Humbert's recommendation of Garcia's in RR is a good one but it certainly would not hold your crowd. They opened up a restaurant in Georgetown called Garcia's Too but I haven't been so don't know if it is a bigger store or not. But if the food is the same it is good.

It's by Williamsburg Village:

That's a pretty low blow.

El Patron is pretty good but the place is filthy.

What the hell ever. Georgetown BBQ (the actual joint, not the city's BBQ in general) is very, very good.

And your tip to drive to Liberty Hill to Margaritas is a joke as well. That place is every bit as cheesy (and bad)a brand of Tex-Mex as any place in Georgetown. Hell, it's owned and run by Iranians. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just that I wouldn't go to a Mexican grocery looking for hummus either.

Gtown BBQ is the only BBQ place I eat.

there still are not choices.

and Liberty Hill is closer to my house than many places in RR...it isn't like I am driving into Austin or something

there is a jardin corona in liberty hill. the one in cedar park is good.

la posada on i-35 in pflugerville would give you a good atmosphere for a rehersal. food is ok.

We are going with Antonio's Tex Mex in Round Rock. Thank for everyone's help.
