Is this the kind of comments from folks complaining about others driving with their parking lights on, which is perfectly legal as long as they do not need headlights, unlike mowing restrictions that are in place to prevent vermin?

(I got to say vermin)

If it is selfish of me to support property rights, then I am proud to be a selfish supporter of property rights.

Do like the guys in the commercial for the Hagger clothes were they bring the goats to the guys house that won’t mow his yard. That should get the point across to them.

It is in the dictionary? That's depressing.

IMO, if someone wants to grow a weed-infested grass jungle in their backyard, they should move outside city limits.

Oh. Okay.

So, I'm not supposed to complain about my neighbor's yard being overgrown because it's "their" property.

Tell me what to do when "their" overgrown property starts attracting mice and snakes that end up in MY yard, and eventually make their way into MY house (or, god forbid, bite my kids).

Is it okay then, or am I still being too hard on them and violating the whole "live and let live" handbook?

I don't see how hard it is to take care of your yard (the recent weather aside)! If you're that lazy or busy, either hire someone or move into an apartment. Don't annoy your neighbors and put them or their health at risk (and yes, that's what they're doing by letting their grass get that high).

I just wanted to add that I am having the same issue.

Our backyard backs a rental duplex's backyard. Well for the past few weeks every few days I have seen a rat crawl across the fence. Now mind you in the 5 years I have lived there I have NEVER seen a rat or mouse.

Well my husband tells me the other day that the vacant side of the duplex's backyard grass is about 5 feet tall. Well heck yes rats and snakes and no telling what are living in there.

I track down the property managment company and demand they mow it ASAP. That this is not accetable and that I have children and a dog that play in the back yard. Plus the weeds are starting to grow through the fence.

I will also be contacting the owner.

I just assumed because of all the rain there was a random rat, but now that my husband tells me about the grass it ALL makes sense.

They're making progress! About a week ago they mowed a few strips of it. Too bad I'm non-confrontational.
