Having lived in the BCS community for 30 years I thought I pretty much kept up with things that go on, but I just found out from an A&M student that Hensel Park is a known gay hangout, and the police know about it. Apparently they like frolicking in the woods.
How many of you know about Hensel Park ???

I know a UPD officer. He says that it's a known place for gays to hook up. Their biggest problem was keeping them from doing private things in the woods or the restrooms. I think I first heard about it in the late 90s.
hey have an unusual species of poison ivy in Hensel Park-it give you the ghey itch.
I worked for A&M security briefly in the mid 1990s when I first came to the state. I was told by the others that this kind of stuff went on at the park. And, it was mentioned that we should probably just skip the park and let the University PD officers go thru there. If ya went in, you might find something U didn't want to find :p

Seriously, I heard about it in the same timeframe. I don't recall if I heard it from other students or at UPD (I was a student worker there in the mid/late 90s).
I heard this from a good friend that was a UPD officer. Never investigated it any further though. Didn't really care to.
sadly enough I knew about this...a few years ago a friend of mine trained her dogs at Hensel Park in the evening hours and would sometimes go pretty late. I went one time to watch, and I had heard the rumor about the gays, and sure enough one by one guys would walk into the woods and come out in pairs about 15 minutes later.
I saw Mark Foley pull in there last night! Now I know why.
The city of College Station sure does have its dirty little secrets.

This has been going on for quite a while, from what I remember. I don't think I can even remember when/where I heard about it it was so long ago.
So can we now call College Station the San Francisco of the Brazos Valley?
that i didn't know... exactly when do these things happen? there were times when we would be at hensel park all afternoon for picnic or whatever and stay there late, but never saw anything...

Better Hensel Park than the Academic Bldg.

I used to work close by Hensel, so I would park my car there. Everyday I would see men sitting in their cars looking very suspicious. Also, men would drive through, as i they were looking for someone, and then leave. VERY SHADY place!!
OK, now I feel totally naive! I've lived here almost my entire life and I had no idea about this. We had our Senior Party for church there. No wonder they switched locations recently.
Whoa...I always wondered what went on there. I live pretty close to the park, so I pass by it late at night a lot and ALWAYS see police cars there. I guess that explains it.
If its one thing the media has taught me its that rumors like this can't be verified until a school/government official or celebrity gets caught there.

Just think what the football board would be like if a certain athletic department official's car were to be spotted in the vicinity. Best I can tell by lurking over there is that Coach Fran and Bill Byrne are responsible for every bad thing to afflict humanity in the past two centuries.

I had a friend that texted me a few weeks ago to tell me she found this great little park by her apartment. I'd never heard of it...
There are gay websites that list places to meet by town name for random hookups with other gay guys and Hensel Park is listed as one of them in this area.
Some gay dude showed it to me a long time ago when I was arguing that there is no gay stuff going on in this town. It also had a restroom in the Academic Building, another park that I can't remember, and the Adult Video store as other hookup places.
