From Rusty Surette and Mayor Gutierrez: A city official has just confirmed that Waffle House has submitted plans for a location on Bryan's west side at Rudder's Landing, near the Walmart on W. Villa Maria Rd at Harvey Mitchell Parkway. The city still has to approve the plans. It's step one!
So, we're officially an SEC town now, right?

The Mayor should be on with WTAW this afternoon.

Sorry Rusty...

It will be in Bryan so the home of TAMU will still be the only SEC college town without a Waffle House. ; )

I love this location! This is a great booming area, and near Traditions where I live!!!!

Wise counsel. After the CoB botched the Boonville HEB situation earlier this year, I'd wait to hear from Waffle House before feeling any amount of confidence that one is coming.

Didn't they say that when moving into a new market they need at least five stores?

Therefore, a College Station proper address is likely coming soon (either at Jones Crossing or at the old Las Palapas, I would imagine), and possibly Navasota later down the line.

Yes. I believe it was 6, but you may be right about the 5. I'd expect more site plans to pop up if they're coming.

Booneville or 21, Fitch, Harvey, Jones Crossing, North Gate/Easterwood area would be my uneducated guesses.

Boonville - yes but only after HEB opens
21 - possibly, though they would have to be closer to Don Chente if they were to build. Not unrealistic.
Easterwood - Not anytime soon, not until Traditions area has real retail, besides, it's too close to both Rudder's Landing and Jones Crossing
Jones Crossing - One of the two College Station locations I would expect to see next.
Las Palapas site - Since Portillo's is now dead and it used to a 24H restaurant anyway this seems like a fair chance of happening.
Northgate - No way. Not happening. That being said, I would still give a non-zero chance to a pickup/carryout location but probably not anytime soon.

If the Las Palapas site works out, I could see another Texas Avenue location around 2818/Texas. If not, I would speculate that Texas/SWP could be possible (near the former Kettle location, RIP).

Jones Crossing has plenty of space, but would they put in a diner/breakfast place so close to Another Broken Egg? (I know they're two different concepts.)

I am trying to picture where a Waffle House would "fit in" in south CS. I just don't see WH fitting the vibe at Tower Point or Caprock Crossing. Maybe adjacent to the incoming Bass Pro Shop? Maybe not south CS at all but rather somewhere near Academy or At Home?

For Bryan, 21 near Don Chente would make sense, as would (eventually) the Booneville area.

I based my guesses on how ive seen them laid out in a college town. Auburn has waffle houses on the same road. One by the interstate and one by campus.

7 locations and 3 along the interstate. 3 along the university
Corridor (one of which is also on the interstate). 1 by the mall.

I'd expect a highway 6 corridor and university corridor of some sort. Which is why 21 or Booneville (closer to Kroger), Harvey near the mall, Fitch area or possibly even further toward Nantucket/the old speedway.

Then Texas/University/Northgate proximity with that west Bryan location as the far west location and Jones Crossing area makes a lot of sense too. Could end up with 7 locations at some point.

It is all about the SEC and where to go after the bars close down.

Believe it when I see it. Just like the movie bowling alley and HEB on Boonville. Little Bobby really must think he is gonna lose, pandering the voters like this.

And the mini-power reactors to be built by Bryan Lake. Bobby jumped the gun on that story, as well.

Maybe Waffle House was offered the same sweetheart deal that Bobby received for his cattle? Just make sure the location is not in the flight path for CLL.

We were told by someone here that CoB is knocking it out of the park and that all of these were a win-win for the community, even before the first shovel of dirt was turned.

Remember the giant chip manufacturer Bobby was promoting that would change Bryan-College Station. That project sure went quiet. He sure likes blowing his horn when things are going good but when they don't he sure gets quiet. The movie bowel grill thing is one that has gone quiet. What an eye sore for that area.
