Is this available to buy locally. I have a small patch in flower bed I want to try it in.

Most of my growers only have it in spring.
I would not plant the stuff it is a weed and takes over beds and spreads into your lawn.

You can generally find it on roadsides, but if you're intent on purchasing it, you'll have to find a place that specializes in native plants. Native Gardeners in DFW is where I ordered mine a few years ago. It filled the bed in quickly and can be controlled by mowing/trimming back once a year or when it becomes leggy.

I planted it where I had erosion and it worked great. Planting involved cutting some off an existing plant and sticking the end in the ground and watering it a couple times. Now would be the perfect time. It stays fairly low, can be walked on and driven on and does not die. It prefers sun, part sun, semi-shady but not full shade. The flowers are nice. It can be mowed. It pulls up easily where you do not want it. I prefer it to Bermuda grass. If you want some, let me know.

I googled it and the picture looks like something that grows in my yard and I try very hard to kill it.
