Yes. He posted about it on his socials. Seems to be doing okay now thankfully.

I don't see why this is newsworthy to the Chron. Then again, their FB presence is all over the place.
It's newsworthy to the cHORNicle because the paper and site have significant readership in BCS.
It could be as simple as standing up too fast. I always sit on the edge of my bed for a few seconds when I get up at night before I try to stand up. My heart rate drops into my lower 50s when I'm asleep, so I would pass out if I just jumped straight up.

This is quite common when you age. I agree take a minute to go from sleep to awake. Also keep a clear path to the toilet. (word to the wise)

No, but they are owned by the same company and share the same offices/staff. So more or less just a difference in branding and style/audience.

There is a condition where if you stand up suddenly late at night your blood pressure crashes and you blackout. It often happens while peeing so there's a real danger your head could hit the porcelain. One of the good doctors here likely knows what i'm talking about. It's usually harmless…unless you hit your head on something.

I had it happen to me when I was in my early 40's.
It's the Vagus nerve, and since that time, I make sure to sit on the edge of the bed for 30 seconds before going to the bathroom to urinate.
