I posted this on the Health & Fitness board but thought I'd give it a try here too. My wife is looking for a good endocrinologist in the B/CS or Houston area. Any recommendations on whom to seek out or whom to avoid? Thanks in advance.

Dr. Chary is a new endo at Scott & White and I'm very impressed with her. She has solved more of my problems in two visits than everyone of my other doctors have in 10 years. She is very thorough and actually spends time with me...both visits have been at least a half an hour.

My wife tried to get a referral for Dr. Burkes at BS&W, but she only sees people with an A1C of 10 or over. My wife's is currently not anywhere near that high. Does Dr. Chary have any restrictions like that?

I was told the same thing a while back because they only had one doctor. Maybe that changed when Dr. Chary got there. It's worth a call to find out.

It was just last week that she was told that.

Do they get dropped when they get below 10? Otherwise, I'd say they're picking the patients that will die much sooner than the others.

I'm in the Waco area, but my endo only has me visit twice a year since my a1C's are so boringly consistent. Mid 5s every 6 months. Most patients she requires quarterly visits.

Don't know what to tell you other than to maybe not ask for Dr. Burkes and ask specifically for Dr. Chary? My numbers are not that high either, but she took me as a new patient. Maybe my timing was just lucky.

Good luck!

She had asked specifically for Dr. Burkes. We got in at AB Hormone Therapy, so we're good for now. Thanks.
