It's not a hospital, though. It would be like if you ran the numbers for square feet of a Home Depot versus a restaurant, of course on a square foot basis the restaurant would be more expensive.

So should a doctor office for dead people cost 50% more than a hospital for those you hope to keep out of the office for the dead ?

Well, they're not the same thing, just like a hospital isn't an office building. It would be a better comparison to another medical examiners' office.

Next week they'll be doing another open house, that sounds like something you could ask.

I'm not sure who you spoke with, but none of the staff are males. I've spoken with the staff. Outside Brazos County won't be happening with the staffing level they have right now. Maybe once procedures are down pat it could be easier to conceive, but the simple fact of needing someone available 24/7 just to let another county bring a body (via funeral home since Brazos ME won't be responding out of county to pick up/investigate at the scene) is a burden not many employees will just keep doing in perpetuity with such small numbers of staff.

Currently, the plan seems to be that all staff will be rotating on-call duties, not just the investigators. That's 6 to rotate right now, if the manager, doctor, admin assistant, and tech jump in to help the two field investigators. What happens when there's more than one death at a time (which isn't uncommon). What happens when someone gets sick? Needs to go on vacation? Is an admin assistant and tech going to even have the same training as the field investigators? Is it fair to ask two investigators to literally live their whole life on call? Those are hard questions to just cover Brazos, much less the surrounding area.

What a huge facility. Their initial staff is 6 but they have room for 30 employees
