I'm in Castlegate II. Tired of Optimum constantly trying to gouge me on pricing.
Are you Frontier folk happy with their service and pricing?

I've been on Frontier for two years and had a price increase at both anniversaries, $20/month when the promo rate expired and I just got notified about a $15 bump coming mid-September. Don't know what comparable Optimum would cost so can't comment on that.

Occasionally I have a suspicion we're down more than I realize but it's hard to say for certain. We stream a lot of TV, sports and zoom calls and rarely have issues there so it's probably not accurate.

Pretty consistent, very little downtime. Every year my bill has gone up, I give them a call, ask for customer loyalty department, and get my old rate reinstalled while threatening to hop on whatever discount optimum has going on at the time. Works like a charm, very little pushback

Yeah I knew that was coming when we moved into Pebble Creek from out in the county. I shouldn't have to argue you annually on pricing. Right now Optimum is offering five year price guarantee which has value by itself. That's four times I don't have to stop my life to argue over pricing. Biggest concern is their top speed at my address is mid-tier for Frontier. Right now 1GB is great but will it be in 3, 4 or 5 years? I'm currently paying $70/month but they're raising it to $85 next month. If I were a new customer I'd get the same for $65. That's enough to make me move. I just hate the stupid games. Guess I'll make that call this week.

We switched to Frontier when it was first available in early 2025 with a one year fixed rate. They attempted a 50% increase at the end of it. I expected an increase, but not that much. I called them and I said I wouldn't accept it and would switch back to Optimum. I got put on hold and the next person on the phone was from the sales division in the U.S. and not the call center in India. I accepted a little increase, but they were quick to hold on to us as a customer.

We've had very little downtime and the speed has been good.

Make sure that you tell them not to dig unless you are home. I had to have them come back because they went right down my irrigation line and busted two heads. I'll give them credit for listening when I said that my irrigation guy would fix it and they credited my bill what he charged.
When I told them that I wanted the line moved, they tried to give me a quote. I told them that it wasn't my fault that they dug when I wasn't home because I told them not to do it.
They sent the company back out and moved the line for free.

I'm on 1Gig for 39.99 and just got them to renew it at the same price. Ask for that.

I believe the last time I had my annual rate increase, I called them and the guy I I spoke to not only price locked me for the next 3 years, he even suggested I put in a calendar reminder to call them again when the rate inevitably goes up (which I was going to do anyway). So the next time you call after a rate increase, ask them if they can lock your rate for the next few years. Optimum offering price lock for 5 years is something I'd mention when negotiating.

We live in Castlegate and switched to Frontier fiber as soon as it was available. We have been more than happy with it. We had one issue with downtime, but they had it taken care of quickly. Also had an issue where the company putting in a sprinkler system next door cut our fiber line, but Frontier was out the next morning to replace it at no cost.

As for price, we have the Fiber 500 plan and I called when the two-year intro price was about to run out and they actually lowered my price to $19.99 per month. Called last month as that was about to expire and they renewed that rate. Took all of 5 minutes and no arguing at all. This is the number they gave me to call to get directly to customer retention 1-800-921-8101.

I'm in CG2 and called Optimum and told them I know the deal my neighbors got from Frontier and, although I don't want to go through the whole install process, I'm happy to change providers if they don't match price.

They locked me in with the price I'm happy with for 2 years. If they start raising prices, I'll call and do it again.

You don't HAVE to actually switch to Frontier just to get better pricing; you just have to be willing to.

We're on 2G for $59.99 a month.

We have been very happy with it. Low downtime, and good bandwidth.

Downside - their support is on par with Optimum

I had one issue with Frontier but called them and they resolved it without much drama and I ended up with their 2 gig for my original rate.

It sucks you have to call them every year and threaten to cancel but that's just basically how it is these days. I have to do the same thing every year with SiriusXM. At least with them I just have to argue with someone over the chat on the website.

We've had Frontier for 4-5 years now. I think it's all we've had here. I wonder if Elon will give BCS free Starlink?
I hope I did not offend anybody with this post. If I did, please come see me at my address in my profile so we can talk.

We switched to Frontier a few years ago when it became available in our neighborhood. It started out at 39.99 for 500mb and went up to 49.99 after a year. I called to get the price reduced and they lowered it back to 39.99 and upped the speed to 1gig. No complaints here.

Since Starlink is the only profitable operation in SpaceX, I doubt there will be any great deals.

I found out the hard way that the 5 year optimum price guarantee doesn't mean you won't have to call annually. You still have to call. They claim its "promotion" expires annually even though I still had a 5 year price lock last year. 45 minutes later, they reinstated the 5 year price lock. They are awful to deal with.

I live in Castlegate II and have been an Optimum, Suddenlink, Cox......customer for 24 years I have 1 gig internet that is entirely unstable When watching a streaming movie the internet will drop 4-5 times during a 1-2 hour movie. It will also randomly drop about every hour or so during the day.

Have you called them?

We have pretty stable internet. I'm in the same neighborhood.

I work from home and use the Internet like 16 hours a day with work and TV, etc., and I'll guess I lose connection for 5 minutes a month?

Yep, you might want to get a technician out to look at it. I had Optimum and cussed regularly due to crappy internet. I first replaced my modem and router with a high-end private version instead of the rented one. Then I suspected our devices were lame, which proved untrue. So I finally called Optimum and asked them to send a technician. Turns out the problem was in my house with the LAN ethernet that was built into the house. A faulty switch was causing the problem. Technician fixed the issue in 15 minutes, and we've had badass internet ever since. They didn't bill me for sending the technician either.

My switch to Frontier happened Saturday morning at 10:30. Called Optimum to cancel (my internet and TV had risen to $307 monthly). They begged me to stay offering 1G of internet for $45 plus 2 free months. Also, threw in TV for $150 monthly total. Declined both telling them that's how much they were gouging me as an under appreciated long time customer.

I believe Fronteir is satisfactory; however, their service becomes inadequate when issues arise. I have been attempting to change my passcode on my VOIP phone for the past few weeks. Their website is ineffective (not user-friendly), their chat support is unhelpful, and their phone service relies too heavily on AI. Aside from that, I have no further complaints. ; )

Starlink is available at our house in CS. But it is $150 or $155 a month.

We have it where we live in San Antonio for $55/month and love it. But not enough to pay almost triple what we pay in San Antonio.

Switched from Optimum to Frontier/Verizon a couple weeks ago. Took over an hour to get Optimum to cancel my service. I already had Frontier/Verizon installed at that point.

I am in the industry and know how this stuff works. Submitted an FCC complaint on Optimum while I was still on the call (about 45 mins in).

I will NEVER do business with Optimum again. They actually called me back the next day regarding the FCC complaint. Was good to see the process actually works. Of course the person was super apologetic and claimed they would "review" their training process with the individuals involved.... HA!!! that's not gonna happen!!

Interesting. They kept me on the phone for a good 45 minutes. There were some things asked by them that sounded off and a bit disturbing, too.

I have a starlink for travel, so I only have the 100gb plan, but it's $55. And it works at my house and the rest of north America.

The $150ish option is for unlimited. There's also a 300gb plan for $80.

Will the roaming plan with 100 gd be sufficient for our house in College Station?
Two tvs, on FB weekends lots of cell phone usage but if a problem people can use their cell data.

No gaming to speak of. Just regular tv watching.

EDITK. I have satisfied myself that the mini will be sufficient. Just learned that professional installation does not come with the mini. And I have promised to never get on a roof again. So I will need to find a local handyman to come do that.

Are you using their router? The routers they provide are absolute crap and once I bought one from Walmart my optimum outages stopped.

Good grief. Frontier sucks, too. I've had it for a couple of weeks and it stops working. Make a call and they hook me up with a technician on the phone by agreeing to a $5 refundable charge. He can't help, so now they have someone coming tomorrow afternoon. I get off the phone and get a message from WF about a change in my bank account balance. That $5 charge turned into a $70 charge by "Just Answer". $70 for nothing. Called them to cancel those charges. Called Optimum to negotiate a deal with them. For around $240 per month I'll be getting their Value TV package, internet and mobile phone service (one line). So, overall, I'll be saving about $190 per month for TV, internet, phone.
