Considering changing our pool maintenance company. Any recommendations?

I'm looking for a good one too that can put me on more like a 4 to 6 week rotation now that I have robots to do the day-to-day.

I will Second Shane at Tiki Pools. We moved out of state and they took care of our pool for 6 months while our house was being repaired and then on the Market.

Here's a question.

What's to be expected of a weekly pool service other than a quick vacuum and chlorine check.

What about:

ph
Calcium
Acid

I took a sample of my water to Leslie's and the quality of my water was 20%. The only chemical in range was chlorine. Granted, I understand Leslie's is trying to sell me product, but I wanted to find out from y'all if the pool guy I pay 40/week should be on top of this.

I've used and fired almost all of them. Pool guy was by far the worst, sunshine charged for stuff they didn't do repeatedly, I had to send them video evidence to get them to stop. Been with true light for a while now and they are pretty meh as well but better that the others. You need to have low expectations or you will be mad at most of them.

Dang. Y'all are making a case for me to just manage this myself. I have a small pool so maybe that helps. My numbers are terrible, though. CYA is too high, ph is too high, etc.

Yeah. It is a pain in the butt, but cheaper and if something needs to be done, I just go do it now. In some ways less hassle, more hassle in other ways. Certainty cheaper.

Just make sure you know your equipment and learn how to manage the chemicals well.

We recently switched to Poolie.

They're not great, better than some others we've used mentioned, but $289/ month including chemicals isn't bad,

Just get a g3 baracuda or the knock off on amazon VINGLI Pool Cleaner.

Keep the chemical levels inline and with this cleaner Very little work needed since it's agitating the floors as it cleans….also replacement parts are cheap

I might be ready to do my own cleaning I just worry about chemistry. I have a 33k gallon salt water pool

I don't. I also don't think they are worth the price.

For regular checks - just use a good test strip. For something deeper, either take a sample to one of the pool stores (which is what I do), or do the deeper tests that are available online. Such as this. They are considered better than the machines.

Weve always taken care of our own pool….its 12 years old. Early on I bought a digital pocket pH meter. I think I paid about $25 for it on Amazon. It helps us know how much acid to add. About once a month we take a water sample to be tested. We empty the skimmers every day and don't think it's that much trouble. Good luck and hope yall enjoy your pool as much as we do!

Eff me. My chlorine and cyuranic acid are off the charts high. All my pool guy does is dump chlorine tabs in the tower and clean out the skimmers. PH is also high and calcium is too low. I need to add 10lbs of calcium.

I'm getting to that point as well. My only worry is, who do I get to do repairs like cracked tile, etc.? That's literally why I still pay someone.

The pool is a bit of a chore, but now I know what is going on.
I would bet that there are tons of pools that have sky high (dangerous in some) levels of CYA. Pool companies never told me anything about it through the years.

I ordered this kit.

Regardless, I ended the relationship with my pool maintenance guy. Cyanuric acid was over 300, chlorine over 20, ph was off. Calcium was next to nothing.

I took it over and now calcium is good, ph is good, switched to liquid chlorine and am lowering that. Cyanuric acid is still high at 194 but coming down. According to Leslie's "pool quality" score I went from 10% (essentially Blutarski from Animal House) to now at 50% (still Pinto but getting better).

The free chlorine was over 20, so I dumped some dechlorinator in the other day.

That CYA is nuts!
