Long story short, I thought if I get my property taxes into the drop box by the last pick up time at the Harvey Mitchell USPS in College Station I should be good but apparently not. The last pick up time listed on the blue exterior drop off box is 4pm. I put my property taxes in there at around 230 on June 30th thinking nothing of it.
I now get a letter from the Tax office saying my property taxes were postmarked July 1. When I went to the post office to ask they said the blue box pick up times don't necessarily mean it'll get postmarked that day. I didn't know this so that's a lesson learned even if I do think its kinda dumb. (But future reference for board users ).
Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can appeal this with the tax office? I went and asked yesterday and they said I can go through a formal review or appeal but the lady said she's never seen one overturned.
