I'm moving into a house in South CS. The previous owners use Bryan utilities and other people use CS. Any recommendations and why? Is one cheaper or more reliable than the other?

Also they use Optimum internet so if y'all have any thoughts on ISP that would be appreciated too. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure you've got to use whoever has service to the house, whether that be CSU/BTU/Wickson/Wellborn/Atmos whatever. I'm unaware of having options for your primary utilities, but I may just be completely unaware. For instance, our last house in south CS had BTU elec, Wellborn water, and CSU sanitary. If you're in that situation, you need to provide your water usage from Wellborn (during winter months when you're not watering your yard) to CSU so they can accurately bill for sanitary. Otherwise, you'll get charged the default highest residential rate.

Everybody loves to hate Optimum (formerly Suddenlink). Their customer service sucks and they will increase prices randomly. I used them for almost 10 years and had no complaints other than the above. Very few outages or service interruptions. I believe they've actually got some competition now, but I don't think it's any better.

I'm not aware of any properties that get a choice between BTU or CSU. You will use whichever ran the wires to the house and installed the meter.

Hope for BTU.

Since both are municipal power agencies I'm pretty sure you don't get to choose.

you have to use either BTU or CSU for electric service based on who's area you are in, there are no choices. As Jeff stated above, there are some more options these days for internet you'll just have to see who has fiber/internet available.

If you are moving to the creek meadows area you will probably have:
BTU for electric
Wellborn Special Utility District for water
City of College Station for Trash
Brazos Valley Recycling for recycling
Atmos for natural gas
Optimum or Frontier for fiber internet

Thank you, all. The options you listed directly align with what the seller shows. For electric, it is BTU. Thank you all for the feedback, it is much appreciated!
