Operation Slowdown is a statewide traffic safety campaign in Texas running from July 18 through August 2. Local and state agencies are dramatically increasing patrols to crack down on speeders

I got a warning yesterday morning for going 40 in a 30 in front of the Post Office on WJB. I was shocked it was 30, but that was a pretty recent development with the construction.

It was a State Trooper, as well. Shocked me. But he was probably heading downtown for a court appearance.

If only he knew you were Rex Racer. You would have gotten a ticket.

I've noticed an uptick in lurking cop cars recently.

When are they going to crack down on drivers wrapped up in their phones?

I see a lot more issues on the road from those drivers than those moving along at a brisk speed.

Motorcycle officer at Fitch/6 today, hopefully cracking down on SB traffic turning left onto Fitch running the light. The timing of that light is a little scary when you're heading from Pebble Creek to H-E-B! It's red until you're halfway under the overpass.

How about cracking down on people that cut across a double turn lane!
SB 6 feeder at fitch, turning left to Lowe's, and the driver in the right turn lane cut hard left to get to the left turn lane to go NB on 6. Damn near hit them if I didn't slam on my brakes.

Campus speed limits are reducing. Not sure what it's going to look like.

I don't think there is really a big speeding problem on campus. At least not during the day during the fall/spring semesters. If anything it takes forever to get around when classes are in session.

Agreed. But it's a very confusing intersection if you don't drive it routinely. It needs better signage for the naive.

Very confusing? It's the same as every other highway feeder intersection in Texas.

judging by the people passing me doing 75-80 on Hwy 6 this weekend, no police officers around here are writing tickets.

A lot of people could care less about the 60 MPH speed limit in the construction...

The other thing that I thought of is even if an officer wanted to stop people, he/she is going to have to follow them to an exit to be able to get out of their vehicle safely.

This is apparently what's changing, according to WTAW:

Thanks for posting the map.

I guess we will see what happens this semester. Not sure if its going to be more safe. There will sure be more tickets written by the motorcycle cop who parks way back in the weeds so far he crosses the sidewalk.

I have seen a couple of bike and scooter accidents around Kimbrough and Penberthy the last few years. Each time it was either the bike or scooter blowing through the intersection and the car was just pulling away from the 3 way stop.

If having more cops out there slows down the crazy Uber and Lyft drivers, that is money well spent.

They should have a task force dedicated to that.

I drove to Dallas on I45 on Friday and there was someone recently pulled over every 20 miles it seemed

Yep. We were in San Antonio over the weekend. A lot of DPS between College Station and Bastrop.

NONE on 130.

I guess they don't worry about people going over 85 when it's legal.
