I was surprised by the news they were creating a movie theater there in the first place. Movie attendance is a flop. I returned a few times this past year since the pandemic, and the theater was empty every time. There were only 3 to 5 people at each showing with me. The days of packed movie theaters are over. I'd rather stay home with my big-screen TV, my own food, and my PJs. It's simply a new era.
What I was really excited about was the original idea of creating a food hall on the property next to Post Oak Mall. A place where local restaurants and food vendors could rent their own space, giving people dozens of different options under one roof, sounds like something our community could really enjoy. Add an indoor/outdoor farmers market and some community gathering space, and I think that would become a destination people would visit year-round. I'd much rather see something like that than another movie theater.
