My kids have friends that have.

Through CAP?

If not, it wasn't a STEM major.

Wife and I are Class of '89. We were out of Texas for 32 years because of the Army, a DoD contracting job, and the kids finishing High School. We wanted to move back to Texas and we didn't want to live in the hustle and bustle of a big city and after deciding on 30 places we didn't want to live we said why not come here as A&M would give us a chance to catch up on the 32 years away as friends passed through town. None of my Corps buddies have moved back, but 2 of my 5th year buddies are living here so it was a good decision.
I can't speak for the schools because we didn't use them.
Cost of living is good compared to other locations and the university provides a good spectrum of jobs as well as research dollars to the area.

Dining is not like it is in Dallas/Ft Worth/Houston/Austin/San Antonio but lord it is much better than the midwest where we came from last.
We plan to die here.

Did not enjoy living in B/CS for 3-4 years, but always love coming back to visit.

No more severe thunderstorm, hail and tornado risk 1/3 of the year (we replaced our roof 3x in 19 years and had several cars totaled or significantly repaired).

Just want to warn you, that I moved to CS less than 10 years ago and I've had a 100% loss on my roof twice already due to hail. So, that's not probably different from Dallas.

I just say the hail takes what it wants to take. I was living in another state, and went to go see Guardians of the Galaxy on opening day. I decided to do a matinee earlier in the day, and went home afterwards for dinner. 30 minutes later, freak hailstorm comes out of no where and totaled every car at the theater and the mall at 6 PM on a Friday night. Some of the pictures of the cars looked more like someone had dropped boulders on them then quarter-sized hail.

Hail takes what it wants to take.

I have lived here since 1989, and the first 25 years I lived here, I don't remember it hailing. But it surely has hailed more recently. We had hail like three times during COVID. My wife and I were on a walk one time and got pelted. Then there were two other times at night. One of them cost us our roof. And last year both of our vehicles got pelted good.

We are NOT all Aggies.

Definitely not!

But, it's still a great place to live. Been here almost 30 years!
