What kind of prices is Frontier charging for the install? I heard you have to have an electrician come out and install a box or some such thing in the house?
I am completely down for switching over, but the cost could really be an issue for our family. Our internet went out for 20 hours last weekend and to say Optimum DGAF about the issues it caused me trying to work for home is an understatement. I can't wait to dump them, but price definitely comes into the equation and we are only paying $45 per month for Optimum for 500 Mpbs.
No charge for the installation at all.
By the way, Optimum said I could have 1Gig speed for $39/mo locked for 3 years. Frontier had already had things up and running or I might have taken them up on the offer.
But then you'd still be with Optimum. They pulled out all the offers when I canceled as well. And while I will say at the current house I live at, SL/Optimum was the best it had been across various places i've lived in the brazos valley, we still had issues from time to time. Issues were fewer when I bought my own modem/router but still had em.
My fiber has been perfect. Never had issues in a couple years of having it now. One time a city worker cut a line up the block that knocked out our neighborhood (no fault of Frontier) and we were back up within a couple hours and humming.
I am confident Optimum's acquisition of SL has increased the quality and now having fiber also will too, but as I told every retention person during the process, they lost my business over an almost 20 year duration of horrendous quality and customer service. It wasn't and isn't what's coming up around the corner, and there was nothing a retention specialist could do about that.
