In College Station. Is anyone here familiar with this place? Google doesn't turn up much, just references to it in obituaries and such. Apparently they don't have a proper website.

Never heard of it.

My dad spent the last couple of years of his life in Legacy Nursing & Rehabilitation. As far as nursing homes go, he was comfortable there.

And as for hospice, Acara Hospice was first rate. I wish we had known we could sign him up for hospice earlier than we did. Every single person we dealt with at Acara was amazing. I cannot recommend them enough.

Thanks for the reply.

My mom was recently moved there after being in Rockdale the past couple of years. Jo's Peaceful Heart is a private care facility. My sister lives nearby and handles my mom's matters.

I hadn't had a chance to visit until this past weekend. The place seems nice, and the residents seem to get a little more personal care. I was getting a bit concerned since they don't have a website or social media presence that I could check out from afar, but after seeing the place and meeting the people I feel better.

One of the things I loved about Acara Hospice was that they came by the nursing home every single day and brushed Dad's teeth, combed his hair, cleaned him, lotioned his face, arms, and legs, etc. It was great. He had so much more personal attention than the nursing home could provide.

You can sign up for hospice if they evaluate your loved one and determine that there is a greater than 50% chance of them dying in 6 months or less. If that changes, your loved one can graduate off of hospice. So there is no reason to delay that evaluation. It's just extra care they are getting.
