Feels like 7 and kids walking to school no problem today?

Maybe the TexAgs outrage got them to change their policies?

What did Hearne end up doing this week? I saw an announcement earlier this week that they would have school even though they didn't have working heaters. They were getting absolutely roasted on the post, which I have since been unable to find.

After the fit thrown in January, Spring Break was canceled. No more days off at all, for any reason. Nobody in the school districts wants to listen to that again.

Or maybe the administrators don't really care about the poor kids walking to school in the cold or else they would have a policy of shutting down or delayed start anytime it is below some degree. It was a convenient line to get a five day weekend.

The school districts are dead set treating kids like snowflakes (a little pun intended).

It's absolutely ridiculous that they canceled school again today. Canceling school has a waterfall effect. Now businesses that have employees that have kids in school either have to close for the day so the employees that have kids can be at home to care for them or they work short handed.

It seems like my kids spend more time not going to school any more with all the holidays, spring (and now fall break), full week off for Thanksgiving.

The schools in Spring were on Winter Break last week. Five weeks from Christmas break and five weeks until Spring break.

How do you have any continuity of learning? About the time a child begins to figure out the math or chemistry, they take a week off and they probably forget half of it.

I know that they are prepared for it but here's the weather report from a town nearby where I grew up.

The school has used six six snow days this year so far.

"A Central New York town has seen over 300 inches of snow this year.

The Central New York town of Pinckney has seen approximately 300 inches of snow this winterand more appears to be on the way. With another month and a half of possible snowfall, that could break the city's previous record of 424.5 inches.
There is, perhaps, no part of the country that's more ticked off at Punxsutawney Phil than Pinckney, N.Y.
As the rodent meteorologist wannabe calls for six more weeks of winter, the Central New York town is busy digging out from a brutal winter, where it has seen roughly 300 inches of snow."

He's a note from the Superintendent.

"Good evening Pirates! As you've likely heard over the past couple of days, we're anticipating a significant snowfall overnight, with 15-16 inches expected. This will undoubtedly create challenging conditions for our buses, student drivers, and families. With safety as our top priority, we've made the proactive decision to close school tomorrow, Thursday, February 13. We understand this is our 6th cancellation this year and recognize the strain this places on many of our working families. Please know that these decisions are never made lightly as the safety of our Pirates always comes first. Thank you for your understanding, and as always, GO PIRATES!
