Texas A&M University is canceling classes at its Bryan-College Station campus on Tuesday, Jan. 21 due to the anticipated risk of inclement weather. However, employees eligible to fulfill their responsibilities remotely are authorized to do so. A decision regarding campus operations and classes for Wednesday, Jan. 22, will be made by no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Employees who perform duties essential to research, clinical services, facility management, utilities, safety or security should confirm reporting protocol with supervisors. All other employees are authorized to work remotely on Jan. 21. Employees who cannot perform assigned tasks or job responsibilities remotely should communicate their circumstances with supervisors and request emergency leave, as appropriate.
Aggie Dining will have modified hours of service: https://tx.ag/alternatedininghours.
Bus service will not run: https://parking.tamu.edu/transit.
The Memorial Student Center will have modified hours. These will be posted on the University Center and Special Events social media channels.
Texas A&M Libraries will be closed: https://library.tamu.edu
Hours of operation for recreation centers may vary. Hours are posted online for the Student Recreation Center, Southside Recreation Center and Polo Road Recreation Center at https://recsports.tamu.edu/facilities.
For campuses and teaching sites outside of Bryan-College Station, check your respective location's website and look for messages from your leadership for potential impacts to operations, facility closures and weather updates.

It is a good idea. People from the southern half of Texas cannot drive on snow or ice (IMHO). It is better to stay at home and be safe. I am sure other businesses, in our area, will take Tuesday off.

Heck, most College Station residents can't even exit or merge on HWY 6 without causing delays/breaking. No idea why they struggle to use a ramp this much. I see all ages with what must be clueless blank stares who can't exit without breaking to 50 MPH.
Add snow/ice, and residents will be in mass chaos.
I expect all local school districts to announce soon they will be closed Tuesday.
I'm thinking Wednesday will a late start if not closed.
Agree with guy above , BCS residents are bad enough drives as it is now add some wintry precipitation and it's a no brainer.
I drove in Dallas when the snow/ ice storm came thru and it wasn't terrible. Conditions here will likely be fine to drive on but it's all a precaution

CSISD and Bryan ISD just closed for Tuesday - Wednesday TBD

Normally, I would feel the same. But this time may actually be different. I follow a Houston meteorologist from the Houston area whose blogs post maps/forecasts that include BCS. It's actually looking like we will see snow. https://spacecityweather.com/
When I was working in Dallas in the 90's, it was snowing early in the morning. That's back when they'd announce on the radio about closures. Our company (along with others) closed for the day. By 10 am, it had already burned off and was sunny in the 40s . CEO was so p'd our name was on the radio as closed, they never closed again.

Yeah the daytime forecasts are well above freezing, so lots of melting will happen. Really just depends if more than a scarce amount of water remains to freeze.
Every student at Texas A&M owns two cars and they drive both to campus. Each year the BCs community welcomes 70K+ of the worst drivers in the state, and we concentrate them in a small area. The cities of Bryan and College Station should get first place in the DPS road construction queue, to compensate.Grmpy said:doubledog said:

Things are different down south. Up in the cold dark north, it would take at least 2-3 feet of snow to cancel work/school. With 4 inches to 2 ft of snow I would strap on my "skinny" skis and cross country into work.MsDoubleD81 said:
