I already thought it had closed down a long time ago.

That was another location.

I thought it was longer than 25 years. I have a pictures from the mid 90's eating there.

25 yrs by Curtis Sodalak, operating the restaraunt. His dad (Frank) operated for much longer.

Got it.

I was about to go digging through a box of pictures. I thought I was going crazy.

Hurt bad when they put the bypass around snook.

Mom and Pop restaurants are having a difficult time in our economy and I think it's not going to get better for many years...if ever.

You could not get that much steak for the price anywhere else. And it wasn't awful, either. Our local options are dwindling.

End of an era. I remember hearing whispers of that place when I was in college back in 2000. Finally started going out there and loved it. Sad to hear it's closing. That said, I haven't been there in years.

Yep. It appears that one or two locals are closing for every chain restaurant that opens up.

At time or two a month people should pick out a locally owned and managed restaurant and go eat there even if it's a little more pricey.

We eat mostly local.

Chick Fil A, Jersey Mike's, and Freddy's are usual exceptions but we mostly eat from locally owned restaurants if we dine out.

I just mentioned to my wife the other day that I was in the mood for some chicken fried chicken at Sodolaks. It is a short drive for us, and I have to admit that this news really bums me out. I drove by there today on my way home, and there is a note posted on the front door, saying that the restaurant was closing immediately.

Too bad that places like these are closing, but I'm sure the economics are making it harder to survive.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

I recommend Sodolak's Beefmasters in Bryan.

I thought the article said something about "transition in ownership ". Could be that they just got tired of running a restaurant. Even little ole Snook is getting more housing these days seems like there would be more customers but perhaps not.

"We are happy to announce that we have purchased the Sodolak's building in Snook. We will be rebranding as "4P Pub and Grub" and opening after finishing some remodeling. We plan on keeping some favorites on the menu and bringing in some new options. We hope our family can count on the same support from the community as yall have shown to the previous owners. Thank you in advance, and we look forward to serving you for years to come."

Have fond memories of eating very bland meals at Sodolak's. Many of them with my grandfather. Ate there at least a hundred times during summers working his ranch on hwy 50 during college.
