I've lived in College Station for over 30 years, and have only rarely seen Anderson Park open and being utilized. Why is that the case?

It would seem to me that removing the grass, and installing turf fields, and some basic level workout bars would allow for more frequent use of the space.

I thought the city of CS was putting in pickleball and futsal courts there at some point in the near future.

Unless it's a huge park, if a park is being "utilized" all the time it's going to suck. Tragedy of the commons and all that. But it's always "open", until the 2010s they didn't even have a fence around it, and Anderson Park has been a part of my life since the early 1990s. It's where my brother went to youth soccer, it's where I saw the Olympics Torch Run, and a number of other get-togethers.

Heck, if you go on Wikipedia and look at the history for Dude Perfect, it mentions that the original video was "the group performing trick shots at Tyler Toney's house and a local public park"...guess what public park that was?!

Granted, even after they made improvements with the playground and basketball court (both were upgraded at some point in the 2000s), it was never one of College Station's popular parks, but we can't ALL be winners.
