The intersection that is the problem (Wellborn Rd. and George Bush Dr.) is about to undergo a massive renovation. But you're right - it should have happened years ago.

How is it worse than University from Texas to Welborn Drive? Or Texas from George Bush to 2818?

The delays are worst due to the train stopping traffic a couple of times an hour.

Based on traffic counts, the busiest area around campus is on S. Tx ave from campus to Hwy 30 intersection. it get an average of 49,530 a day. Wellborn and GB gets 29,980 east of the tracks and 24,841 west of the tracks. GB and Tx avenue has 29,419. Tx and and Univ has 35,804. https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/6c0166bfc5144afe83926a3a529a8d03

Was the 2022 ranking based on data collected in 2021? If so, I would think that the pandemic, and the subsequent response to it, might have possibly still been a factor.

To be fair, hard to get attention and funding for something that isn't a problem yet. Citizens will complain money is going to something not needed at times.

Dang if you, dang if you don't.

Hogwash.

It's been needed for decades and everyone knows it.

Still way better than a lot of the roads in Houston, Dallas, and Austin that crawl for 3 hours in the morning and then 4 hours in the evening.

In the late 1970s the two cities. county, and A&M and some state money was meeting to propose to have the RR moved out along the river and the plan fell through due to the cost. It sure would have been nice if they would have done that.

Major projects usually either get delayed or scaled down due to decisions as to which projects are most needed. Years ago when it was discussed to put in the underpass, it was decided to widen Texas Ave from two lanes to three. Now we are talking about Hwy 3 going to thee lanes in each direction and Wellborn road going to two/three lanes all the way to Millican.

Cities, counties, states are always short of money when considering all the projects that are needed.....which most of the time is a good thing. This why projects such as the medians is asinine.....not needed now and not in the forseeable future.

As I recall one of the arguments against it was the railroad would be relocated through farm land traditionally owned by minorities. There were strong hints of racism. This helped deep six the project, combined with its expense.
Trump will fix it.

Just need to add medians. That will fix it!
We'll win this war, but we'll win it only by fighting and by showing the Germans that we've got more guts than they have, or ever will have. We're not going to just shoot the sons-of-b******, were going to rip out their living G*******d guts and use them to grease the treads of our tanks. We're going to murder those lousy Hun c********** by the bushel-f****** basket. War is a bloody killing business. You've got to spill their blood or they will spill yours. Rip them up the belly. Shot them in the guts.
