My family visits often, and we've considered retiring there. Any tennis buffs on here that can tell me if it's a good town for recreational tennis players. I see Bryan is getting the indoor courts they'll share with the Aggie teams soon. Are there good leagues and other facilities?

We're about to move the A&M Tennis Center to Bryan Midtown Park.

edit: I see you already know this. Should have read your post

I think the current tennis center is not going anywhere and will be the outdoor facility. Midtown will have the indoor courts.

There's a few tennis circles around town. I'm in a GroupMe chat with a bunch of 3.5-4.5 level players. Not quite as active as the group used to be, but people still play pick up games every now and then.

Do you need to be a Bryan resident to use the city's facilities? Wondering if there's reciprocity with CS.

The tennis courts at Castlegate park seem to be always busy. I see folks playing tennis throughout the day and into the evening. They are also lighted at night.

I also see the CSHS tennis courts lighted in the evening. Not sure if they're open to the public or why CSISD is paying for the lights to be on when there is not a school activity? I've always wondered if my tax dollars are paying for it.

That would be a terrible mistake. I get tennis, not baseball. That area is a dump. I don't care how much money is thrown into it.

Not positive overall. Pebble Creek does doubles leagues, clinics, and sometimes sets up singles ladders

they aren't moving Olsen Field. they'd never let it happen. it's their legacy. I remember when they had that party with Henry Thomas at Walden Pond. Legend.

this is a joke btw....the olsen twins are much younger than Henry Thomas

If you are looking for USTA Men's Leagues, BCS is behind the curve.

Other rentals have a higher price for non-residents. But I have no specific knowledge about tennis.
