I was at the Parks & Rec meeting over at Ringer Library. Sometimes it pays to show up to public meetings

At that meeting they gave renderings of what the Smith Track was gonna look like.

I do not mean to get all "engineer'y" but if you look at the TOPO from FEMA you can see that the track (roughly red circle) is basically 100% flood zone.

So in order to do mitigate that you will have to build run off into the creek and then the side walls to prevent erosion. This does NOT take into account the fact that you will have to dump all the excess water into the creek which creates flood downstream worse. And trust me when I tell you:

When we had that huge amount of rain a while back Wilderness N&S was under 3 feet of water. And yes... I mean the road itself was under water not just the curb ETC

in short I do not see anyone with the expertise on council to plan this kinda stuff properly. Staff does what they are told to do after giving advise.

Again... one party rule

This sickens me, and again Complete failure by our totally out of touch council

What's the over/under on how much less the city sells this for than what was paid for it? That's if anyone even responds to the RFP. The meh attitude about this disaster down at city hill is infuriating. That brain trust over there paid literally twice what the seller had bought the piece of crap for just months earlier. Then they tried to act like "all that land" was worth it because they could get more restaurant pads there. I guess people were going to just park in the sky. Main Event already looked at this deal and said not no, but hell no. I'll be shocked if anyone else feels differently about it.

According to Yancy, we're not allowed to talk about it

I never said that. I've talked about it extensively on this platform, and done my best to address concerns. I'm not going to hide from the Macy's. Just going to work like hell to get the taxpayers the best deal.

Respectfully,

Yancy

Is there a minimum acceptable sale bid on it?

If it doesn't sell or lease, has the city looked at it for a YMCA?

The Macy's RFP has been officially released and the "cone of silence" (silly but necessary) is in effect.

Respectfully yours,

Yancy
My opinions are mine and should not be construed as those of city council or staff. I welcome robust debate but will cease communication on any thread in which colleagues or staff are personally criticized. I must refrain from comment on posted agenda items until after meetings are concluded. Bob Yancy 95

You literally said on the CSU thread "I don't know why people keep talking about Macy's"

That's not the same thing. Pretty disingenuous statement.

This is really going to be an ugly deal. There is a laundry list of items that need to be mitigated on that property. The best course of action is probably to tear the thing down, but who is going to want to sink a bunch of money into capital improvements on a piece of real estate that is attached to a crappy mall? There is also no way on God's green earth that the city wasn't aware of the massive amount of hair on this deal when they purchased it. Or maybe I'm giving them too much credit and they never did a lick of due diligence, but simply rushed to close because they felt like they needed to be in a position to control who the next tenant was going to be. Quit playing in the sandbox that should be occupied solely by the private sector! One would think they would have learned their lesson with the Chimney Hill debacle, but no. Some of the same actors pushed the Macy's right down our throats.
