This was last night. Dark as hell there.
I was to the left of the SUV that was turning right on wellborn.
Girl driving SUV starts to turn. Goes about 10 yards and slams on the brakes and backs up.
Dude pops out from under the front of her SUV. He was wearing all black. He's yelling and screaming at her. She's crying.
Dude takes a picture of her license plate and walks off. Crying girl drives off.
I was watching her turn because light was red and the traffic was really moving and was curious if she'd even make it. I never saw the dude in front of her either.

Is anybody at fault for this?

Last week I saw a girl walking across the road at night with headphones on. She never looked up. I had a green light and had to slam on the brakes to not run her over. The car coming the other way probably going 40-50 mph missed her by about a foot. She briefly looked up when the car swerved around her.

So was the guy trying to cross Southwest, or was he in the road on Wellborn?

crossing southwest....

Her fault. Light was red and there's a crosswalk there. She should be yielding to pedestrians.

I initially read it like he was trying to cross Wellborn and she hit him as she was turning.

That's what I thought. I couldn't see her view but I certainly never saw him and I was right next to her. Wearing all black and walking at night ain't a great combination.

He is a moron to leave the scene and should have callled the police. Even if he tries to claim on her insurance or sues her, she could easily deny that she was there. Just the fact of taking a photo of a license plate doesn't proof she hit him, just that she was nearby.

She's at fault but he's an idiot for walking around in the dark in all dark clothes.

That area is very dangerous. Pedestrians have been hit there in the past. Not just at the intersection of SW Parkway/Wellborn but also on SW parkway leading up to wellborn. Many students run across the street to catch the bus on the other side and they don't pay attention to traffic, just act like they own the road. I don't know what the solution is but it makes me nervous every time to drive through there.

Problem now days is pedestrians just walk out into traffic. Even if they have don't walk sign they still do and usually are on phone or have headphones on.

I see plenty of organ don… errr… idiots zipping around on motorcycles and scooters all over town as well.

But yes, you'd think Mom taught him better…. You'd think.

College Station police is investigating the circumstances of a pedestrian who was struck by a commercial truck.

A CSPD spokesman says a 69 year old man was flown to a hospital in Temple.
The man was struck Wednesday morning (September 25) west of the Walmart store as he was walking across Longmire Drive from Airline Drive.

The location of the initial point of contact remains under investigation.

No arrest or tickets have been issued.

Longmire has reopened after being closed to allow CSPD's accident reconstruction and crime scene units to collect information.

So what's the rule if someone is on a scooter in the bike lane, but going the opposite way of traffic? The markings in the bike lane have arrows that show which way they should be traveling, but they aren't abiding by that. Does it make a difference or is the auto always at fault?

Like a bike, they are supposed to travel with traffic.

This is the way. They are supposed to follow traffic laws just like bicycles.

^ This, and a great big Thank You OP for starting this thread which is a great reminder to me to always be a defensive driver, being on the lookout for pedestrians and vehicles suddenly appearing in front of my vehicle.

I know most (all) of us on this Board would feel terrible if we hit a pedestrian even if the pedestrian was at fault and we did nothing wrong and did not receive a traffic citation.
