When my grandparents were post-WWII GIs and at A&M in 1946, family records mention they went to some sort of trailer park near A&M. It was stated to be near Kyle Field and a classified ad from the mid-1940s mentions a "Campus Trailer Camp" but I have no idea where it might've been.

"It was named the A&M Trailer Court and was located in the shadow of Kyle Field. It spung up almost over night and contained close to 40 of these small homes on wheels. They are all privately owned by veterans seeking higher education and cost on the average of $1,500 to $3,000." March 27, 1946 Battalion. Pics: https://imgur.com/a/DHfp8aZ

The GI bill overwhelmed many colleges and their surrounding communities but was a great success . Those GIs appreciated the opportunity to go to college and the country avoided an unemployment crisis. During that time the freshmen (maybe sophomore too?) classes were at the old Bryan Airbase - now the Rellis campus. Full circle.

The university solved a housing crisis back then.

My dad attended SMU on the GI Bill after WWII. As newlyweds he and my mother lived in a trailer outside the stadium. She did her laundry
in the stadium locker rooms. I'm sure all schools had this after WWII.
