We're soon approaching the ten-year anniversary of Torchy's Tacos, and I'd say they broke the "cursed" spot, which was discussed here in the early 2010s with the failure of Fontana's, Fowl Digits/Sully's, and a few others. Here's an article (well, part of an article) as far back as 2001 that discusses how many restaurants failed in the spot.

Torchy's survived one of the strangest, most unhinged reviews by The Oracle where he threatened to sue Yelp (yet again) if they didn't cement his "first to review" post.

Good for them for having to deal with PR from a Terrible Person, and go on to be a real beloved BCS institution.

Torchys actual tacos are fine, but I really like their corn, chips salsa/queso, and margs. Those are why I go back.
