Hey, no one named Carl Shafer is running for City Council in College Station. How connected are you. Is there some agenda here?
Well according to the application submitted to the secretary under full name it says Carl Scott Shafer.
It's odd you wouldn't use Scott Shafer. It is how it will appear on the ballot.
Yeah I agree, I read left to right and saw first and last name. Did not think to put his middle name on account of it being his middle name but if that's how he wants his name printed on the ballot I will fix the post.

Looks like that signature says C. Scott Schafer so he probably goes by his middle name.
I didn't realize he was using his middle name either. I haven't looked into either one yet, but whomever is most fiscally conservative is who I will be voting for. Most people use their first initial, then middle name, when that is what they go by, in my experience.
Does anyone have any info about either of these candidates?
Who will they potentially replace? Its hard to keep track of which council member is in which place since they're all at-large and don't represent a particular area.

Are you choosing to vote for a person based on their first name? That's seems random. What's that about?
This would be to fill Maloney's seat since he can't run again. A younger community activist type vs a career academic from the RPTS dept.

It's easy to pick the more fiscally conservative option. Two never-fail methods:
Just drive around the neighborhood and look for houses that have both a Harris/Walz sign in their yard as well as one for city council. Vote against that council candidate.
Or see who CSAN is supporting and vote against that candidate.

I think Tre Watson is trying to get his name out there.
Not doing a great job though.
I'm sure there will be more, but so far, I think the only candidate sign I've seen is one for Colin Allred. I haven't seen any presidential or for city council yet.

They do let people tell everyone who they are voting for and they do allow for some virtue signaling, but a sign doesn't change minds and make people decide "that's who I'm voting for".

Can't find much on Shafer online other than his A&M employment and some other generalities. A quick Facebook search for Watson's posts will give more insight into him. In addition, the Brazos County Democrats are handing out his signs for him.
Is he related to the Brazos County Pct 4 Commissioner Wanda Watson?
Someone in my neighborhood, just as you turn in, has Allred, Harris/Walz signs and a rainbow pride flag. Nothing else in the neighborhood.
Fun fact .........since OP doesn't seem to know :ALL City Council spots in CS are at large.
