Our kids saw it in Downtown Bryan in the early 80's on a blustery cold day. Now we will take the Grandkids!
Looking forward to some then and now pics. It is large and loud. Strike that, it is humongous!

It stopped in front of the General Service Complex about 5 years ago. I got some great pics and video. It's definitely worth checking out.

I think that might have been Cotton Belt 819.

Whatever locomotive it was, I remember seeing it with my dad. And it was a cold day so highly likely the same one you took your kids to.

4014 was sitting in a museum in 1986.

I envy those of generations before me who got to steam locomotives like this on a regular basis. Thankfully, there are still a few left to remind us of what things once were. There is not a piece of machinery closer to a living, breathing thing than a steam locomotive.

Big Boy will be passing through B/CS sometime in the next couple hours (Friday morning). It has not departed it's current location as of 9:08am, but is scheduled to arrive in Navasota at 11:00am. So probably sometime around 10:30 it will be passing through. Tracking map:

It will be coming back to town on Monday afternoon, be parked Wellborn / F&B Road all day Tuesday for viewing, and depart Wednesday morning at 9:00am.
