We used to have one at 2026 Texas Avenue South from 2003 to 2012 (now DSW). To me it wasn't as good as the Bryan location, even from day one. I think the opening of Chuck E. Cheese a little more than a year afterwards meant that it wasn't going to be as successful as its predecessor ("Gattiland" was the only game in town as far as an all-inclusive pizza-and-arcade games place went).

If they model it after the one in Brenham and in a good location, it will be a great success.

I'd put it on College where Culpepper is developing the retail complex. Take out IHOP, Scholskys, and put it right on the corner with the parking behind. About 10,000 college students living with a few blocks and that many can walk across from campus.

I've heard that it will be in the Bryan Walmart (Harvey Mitchell location)

Texas-based restaurant Mr Gatti's Pizza announced in a news release Thursday that it will open 92 corporate-owned units inside Walmart locations in Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Kentucky.

The expansion will begin later this year with 12 new locations in North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. More restaurants will eventually open in Walmarts in other states.

"This partnership will kick off later this year with the launch of 12 units, nearly doubling our national footprint and bringing our delicious pizza to new markets," the company wrote in a Facebook post on Monday.

Walmart locations will have counter service and seating for customers to grab a bite to eat. The menu will include pizzas, wings, salads, sandwiches and other items, according to the news release.

Shoppers will be able to place orders through the Mr Gatti's app and pick up their food by the time they're done shopping, the restaurant said. Some locations will also offer delivery.

Could use something in the one on Briarcrest. That would be great to have pizza. Could put a pretzel store in there maybe.

Pretty sure they'll be putting those in locations that have already lost their McDonald's and need another tenant. Subway is still located there; if they haven't already lost their lease. The local franchisee stopped expanding at this point and have closed their Southgate location (during COVID) but if they were running on a 10-year lease they probably already renewed it.

That would be awful, IMO. Needs to be in a location with drive-thru and easy in/out access.

Do people like Gatti's for their pizza? I just always assumed it was a good place to keep the kids entertained while eating mediocre pizza.

It used to be pretty darn good back in the day at the 2 story Mr. Gatti's locations here - when you could get a pitcher of beer with your pie and play Donkey Kong and Ms. Pac Man.

It was bad pizza even before the good pizza places started popping up in town.

We absolutely love their pizza. It isn't gourmet or anything, but it has great flavor--especially the crust. Easily my favorite chain pizza (better than Pizza Hut, Domino's, Little Caesar's, etc.). Recently bought some for a party at Silver Wings in Brenham and it was amazing.

I went to a few Texags meetups at the one in Bryan MANY years ago…

I tried Mr. Gatti's in Austin a few years ago. Either they were overpriced or the dummy working the counter just screwed me on the price ($15 for a medium carryout pepperoni, far above what Domino's or Pizza Hut would charge for a similar pie) and it wasn't that good. It appeared that the crust was pre-baked and the ingredients were put on top of it--explained the freezer-aisle taste and why its pizza oven was much smaller than what Domino's had.

When Mr. Gatti's was in Bryan I always rolled my eyes at their claims of "The best pizza in town...honest!", as if they KNEW they were lying. I never liked their pizza, I think I ate their spaghetti whenever I went to Gattiland. It of course, was never about the pizza, it was about the bumper cars, trying to earn tickets but ending up getting cheap crap, and watching golden-era Cartoon Network in the theater rooms.

Yes, if you want good pizza, Gatti's is *not* it.

Have you tried Chuck E Cheese pizza? I'm sure it's equally amazing.

It's been 20 years since I went to a Gatti's. The games were good. If the pizza is mediocre, it means it's improved dramatically.

The original Mr Gatti's pizza houses had really good pizza.

The Gattitown pizza was edible, but that wasn't the main reason to go there.

Chuck E. Cheese didn't have any effect on the College Station location. It wasn't even the same set up.

We were in the middle of our Little League and Upward Sports years when it was here and it was difficult to get party rooms for birthdays or team parties. They booked up quickly.

It was in issue between the landlord and the tennant and roof repairs or mold.

Birthday parties is how these things make money and from what I heard Gattitown was really struggling by the end, Chuck E Cheese or not.

I can't imagine it was roof issues since it wasn't an old building; when they moved in it was a little over a decade old, with H-E-B owning the property (they still do). I don't think they did anything with the roof before DSW moved in either.

We knew one of the managers and several kids that worked there. It was not lack of business.

There was an issue with the landlord and it had something to do with the ceiling, mold, and something else. It wasn't going to be able to operate without the repairs and they shut it down.

There is a blog that makes a comment about Chuck E Cheese affecting its business that is inaccurate.

It was mold in the ceiling. They replaced ceiling tiles but the landlord wouldn't look into or address the source.

Interesting theory, and the fact that the roof WAS replaced between 2013 and 2014 lends credence to that. So maybe H-E-B did help kill it off.

It was still doing poor business either way.
