She asked a valid question. You don't have to be board police to make sure the councilman doesn't get his feelings hurt.

Disregard. I'm not fighting over this.

I asked a question and got a good response from the councilman. I thought the apartments were much closer. Thank you for your critique on my wording. I really was trying to stress the importance of not just moving it to an area with fewer people likely to fight it due to income or the fact that they are not homeowners. We all deserve to not have constant noise pollution.

Gotta have a thick skin and look at the question and/or feedback. I try to. It's not like government has earned a bunch of niceties and benefits of the doubt. I think our city and staff are different and will argue that but in the end that's yalls call.

Respectfully,

I truly appreciate your response. I apologize if my original response came off accusatory.

This is what I was hoping and expecting to hear. It was a very good question and I'm glad he answered it.

Should Amazon indicate an interest in the Macy's space but ask for a tax abatement of some sort, how do think the council would react?

We have scant few such agreements. In fact I can only remember one, Fujifilm, that we've approved and that was a ministerial action stemming from an agreement years old but still in effect.

All land sales I recall have been full price with no incentives since I've been on council. I feel confident in saying our CM and Council drive a tough, fair bargain when it comes to incentives.

Any corporation that receives any sort of incentive from this council and staff should count itself fortunate because it is rare. I want to see this happen but I'm not willing to give away the taxpayer's farm.

I'm getting too close to deliberating but I wanted to answer you best I could. I hope that's responsive to your question.

Have a good week.

Respectfully,

Yancy

I welcome robust debate but will cease communication on any thread in which colleagues or staff are personally criticized. The last line of this story says that Amazon plans to leave College Station once the lease is up:

I hope that's true. I'm learning from this experience that I don't want those things anywhere near I live. If that means I have to pay more, or wait longer for packages... so be it.

There's enough noise pollution already. Next on my list, I'll be glad when those leaf blowers convert to something a whole lot quieter

This is the first time I heard they are exiting. That's a shame. With USPS so slow around here I keep hoping for a better last-mile option, through Air or something else.

I wonder if "leave college station" was the interpretation of the journals when Amazon said "not renewing lease", or if Amazon actually said they plan to leave or even "discontinue drone service".

I certainly hope not and I have not heard that from anyone with Amazon.

They haven't said anything of the kind. It's either a journalistic error or they know something no one else seems to.

Much obliged!

This is a positive campaign first and foremost. As far as I see it, College Station only has the potential to get better. But it is up to us to make it so. All of us!

I might be in the minority here but I always thought Amazon was using us for Beta testing this drone delivery.

Once the "bugs" got figured out and they got their necessary data they would then roll it out nation wide - or at least by region.

Remember that density drives demand here. If they do not have the demand to keep filling that warehouse and stay profitable then I would be shocked if they stuck with it.

I think the guy from Lowes is Place 6. I only recognized his name because I go to Lowes alot and I saw him speaking at a city council meeting.
