What's the deal with the unfinished gas station at Welsh and Holleman? Construction seems to have completely stalled out and I can't find anything on it, not on TDLR Tabs, not on New Development. They've been working on it for at least a year.
There must either be a lack of equipment for convenience stores or lack of money by the owners. The remodel of the station on the NE corner of Hwy 30 and Hwy 6 must have taken more than two years to remodel and reopen. The may be waiting on city inspectors at each stage of construction. It's going to be a great improvement from the one that was there.PS3D said:

2 years is a little exaggeration. Garpez was still there until the end of October 2022 and the Store reopened Dec 2023woodiewood said:The remodel of the station on the NE corner of Hwy 30 and Hwy 6 must have taken more than two years to remodel and reopen.PS3D said:

It's not even close to being done. I remember the 7-Eleven there at Holleman and 2818 was mostly completed for like six months (sign up, interior at least partially finished) before Stripes went in and finished it off.woodiewood said:There must either be a lack of equipment for convenience storesPS3D said:

The signage for A&M Xpress was complete by 2014; by that time the Chicks deal was a done deal, operating as Stripes for months (it was on Highway 6, not 2818). It had nothing to do with that. I believe from what I heard the owner ran out of money, though they had filed a taxpayer/business entry and everything.Trout said:PS3D said:It's not even close to being done. That was related to
Chicks being sued by buccees and the dissolution of a partnership, stripes buying that store was part of the old chicks store on 2818 being part of the deal.

That being said, the Stripes/7-Eleven at Highway 40 and Wellborn was planned as a Chicks, though they sold a few years before it actually broke ground.

The one at 40 was also part of the deal. It was a combination of fuel contacts and ownerships at all 3. I won't go into it. But I'm 100% correct on all accounts. Lots of ins and outs. The one at Holleman and 2818 was under contract with the jobber who also owned Chicks. So selling rights to fuel contract was part of it.

Valero contract hold up. Will start again soon.
