A story on this morning's news said that it was found at Wal-Mart in multiple stores in at least five states that prices were 10 to 15% higher on many products at the self check kiosh than what was posted on the shelves or what was advertised.

Probably not intentional, but technology errors will always exist at times. We need to be watching what we are charged when purchasing items at all stores.

Unintentional but still miraculously always errs in favor of the store!

Funny how that works. Should be able to hold the store criminally responsible. No different than the customer shoplifting.

Same software... I seriously doubt it is unintentional. My take it is the shoplifting (or skipping) at the self checkout. If you are paying at the self check out you are paying for those you do not scan all of their items.

Walmart ends self-checkout theft-prevention test...15% of self-checkout users confess to purposely stealing.

This cannot be a coincident.

Well, WM figures most people are ripping them off from self checkout, so they figure it evens out. /s

I am not a fan of self checkout whatsoever. You want me to check myself out, but expect me to get it right?!? Self checkout should *lower* prices, IMHO, if the real reason was to save money by eliminating checker positions. That didn't happen. But, you can bet they will use having to hire more checkers as an excuse to raise prices again.

Exactly. The only way self checkout makes sense is if you can just roll your cart through a sensor and it tally's everything up at once.

Don't pee on my leg and tell me its raining. If you expect me to check myself out, you better be offering a discount.
